So what happened was, we got this "awsome deal" for a brand new car @ 0% we drove the car home last night, and just now he called as saying, we need to go back there because we were not quite approved it didn't go trough...yada, yada, yada, and he wants us to sign a new form with the new interest rate @ 3.4!!!????
Can they do that, because I'm really upset and don't even want the car anymore!

I know state taxes would be different from state to state. In terms of federal tax if I am a sole proprietor what percentage of my income would I have to give the government? Assume I would make 40 - 50k per year. Also what other things would be taken out of the money I make? I know I would probably have to pay FICA because I've always seen that on my checks, is there anything else though and if so how much or what % would it be?

Personally i think it's a bad idea, and i'm aware that i'm in a minority group here. My point is...... will this mean prices in the already expensive Aberdeen will rocket even further, to the point that us Aberdonians can't afford to live in our own city any longer? Come on people, we've already had the oil boom. Look what that's done to property prices among other things. I have two jobs and i'm still struggling to make a living up here. Rich Americans move in and how are we expected to pay the inflated prices that will appear once businesses realise that they have a lot of money? It is a case of "local hero?" "I want to buy the beach....?" Thoughts and opinions please, as this has caused one hell of a kick up in the local papers recently.

It sounds kind of snotty to say, but I don't know what else to think at this point. My boss is an ok guy but he cannot grasp ideas or concepts as quickly as I can....he works very slowly, and the tiniest change freaks him out. He'll literally start to turn red and clench his fists like a 3 year old in the midst of a tantrum. He gets very frustrated when he tries to explain something to me that I already get. If I come up with an idea or a solution to an issue too quickly, he'll initially tell me no, don't do it that way, then try to figure it out himself, only to conclude that I was right in the first place. It's a delicate situation because I don't want to offend him or piss him off, but I can't really slow my thought process down to please him, and I shouldn't have to--I mean, I thought productivity was kind of a key component to business, you know? Has anyone ever had a similar experience? If so, how did you handle it?

Ok let's say that there's a job opening and there are 2 applicants.

1. A man who graduated magna *** laude from an unknown university and got a Masters from another unknown university. But he has 30 years of experience.

2. A man who was valedictorian of his high school class who got his MBA from Harvard yesterday. He also has a PhD from Yale. During undergraduate study he graduated Summa *** Laude. However he has minimal work experience.

Who would you hire?

Ok, so I was fired from my last job because customers complained that I was rude. I was never out-right rude to someone I'm just a quiet person and I think alot of people take that as I'm being rude to them. So now I need to find a new job how would I tell my potential boss about this without sounding like I'm really bad at customer service. Also, when I asked my last boss what should I say when I get asked for the reason I was terminated he said that he doesn't know, just whatever I can think of. They said they will give me a good reference I just dont know how to put this without sounding like someone they shouldn't hire.

I'm applying for a job as a library assistant which I really want, it fits in well with my history degree, is part time (I have a young baby so I want a part time job) and is very local.

What sort of qualities would I have to highlight? I have to fill in a section on "work experience, interests etc" and tell them about "myself, my future career plans ans show how this makes me suitable for the job.

Any suggestions? I have a history degree, have worked mainly as a temporary secretar/typist up till now, but also as a shop assistant (serving the public). I have a one year old son who is already a member of the library, I enjoy reading and use the library regularly for myself and also baby books for my son.

I hate filling in application forms because I never know how to "sell" myself! Help!

I had coverage for water damage. We did the demo to get rid of the wet moldy drywall ASAP, and are being refunded only $8/hour for our time on that. We had no walls so I hired a VERY low cost worker ($20/hour) to replace them and even his rate was double what the estimate said it would cover. So I called the estimator and he said to send his estimate to a list of his choice contractors, so did---they ALL 100% ignored it. So I called him back and he said they would probably only do it non-a-la-carte, i.e. the whole thing, demo, drywall, tape, mud, float, texture, painting, replacing fixtures. This has stretched out over 2 months and I had to re-do all this MYSELF including the fixtures because we had no bathroom. So the situation is that I KNOW he's giving me a very lowball estimate and he's depriving me of a way to find out about that. What should I do now?
