I recently sold my townhouse and used the proceeds to purchase a new home. Two weeks after closing, I was contacted by my settlement agent who indicated that there was a $1000 error in the closing documents (They apparently applied a $1k reduction in realtor's commission twice). They're demanding payment of the $1000 and withholding my realtor's commission until I make payment (which means that I'm receiving pressure from him also).
Am I responsible for their mistake at closing (two weeks after settlement seems a bit late)? Is there anything to protect me from them coming back and telling me that something else was incorrect on the HUD-1?

There was a septic problem in our apt that made the apt unlivable. make a long story short..mold everywhere, they had to pull up all carpeting etc. we were asked by the landlords to pay the next months rent even though we didnt stay in that apt ONE day that month. however, our belongings WERE still there. I want to ask them for that months rent back bcz i believe their ins should have paid for that. how do i go about letting them know they owe us this $$?
btw..we gave a 30 day notice @ the same time i paid that months rent so we are no longer renting from this agency.

I started as the receptionist at a Law firm in Cleveland, OH on August 29th of this year. It is a decent size firm-25 or so employees. After only a short time, the legal assistants started to give me a lot of their overflow work. I was catching on qucikly and doing things accurately and in a timley fashon. They loved me. I have since been promoted. They are going to train me to be a probate legal assistant. They started me out at 25k a year as the receptionist. When I accepted the promotion they told me I would be getting a raise, they said they didn't know how much yet though. The average salary for the position in the Cleveland area (between 0-2 years experience) is between 31k and 38k a year. In your opinion, what do you think i should expect to make?

My husband and I rented an apartment and had trouble with the upstairs neighbors. We called the landlord three times over the issue, and our last call about it ended with her telling my husband that if he wasn't happy then he needed to find somewhere else to live and that she would let us out of one year lease. So we found another place to live and told her. She told me that we would receive our deposit check because she had told me that she let us out of our lease. I called her today about the deposit check and she told me that her boss which is over Sundance properties told her that no, she couldn't of let us out of our lease and we broke our lease. Does this seem very legal? I'm just wondering about this because we were told one thing moved out and then told another.

I joined an online company a couple of months ago, I have made profits, and I was wondering how I go about filing taxes for it. I filled out a W-9 with them before I was qualified to receive commissions, if that means anything.

I live in Georgia and was wondering about how to handle state taxes as well. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I have tried to apply for a Wal-Mart credit card online, but it keeps saying I cannot use a post office box... we don't have a street address to where mail can be delivered. It seems like every credit card company says no PO boxes... what if I don't have anything else?

I have very bad credit. At least 3000 dollars worth of credit card and doctors bills. I am wanting to pay this off, and try to rebuild my credit. After everything is paid off, how long before the creditors(actually collection agencies in my case) take the points of of your credit, and do they even do this? Will it really help if I pay it off, or am I doomed? I want to buy a new house, new car, and get a credit card, but I cant ( even though I make good money) before I get married- which should be soon. I see creit repair agencies and debt consolidators, but have heard they make matters worse. I would like to pay off my debts, but if it doesnt help my credit score-I feel like I could spend the money on other things.( I am a single mother, while I make good money-I dont have it to throw around). Does anyone know what I should do?

MR SALIHU AHMED
AUDITING AND ACCOUNTING UNIT.
AFRICA DEVELOPMENT BANK(ADB)
OUAGADOUGOU BURKINA-FASO.

Dear Friend
(TOP SECRET)

I am Mr Salihu Ahmed the director in charge of auditing and accounting section of Africa Development Bank, (ADB) Ouagadougou Burkina-Faso in West Africa with due respect and regard. I have decided to contact you on a business transaction that will be very beneficial to both of us at the end of the transaction.

During our investigation and auditing in this bank, my department came across a very huge sum of money belonging to a deceased person who died on 16th febuary 1998 in a plane crash and the fund has been dormant in his accountwith this Bank without any claim of the fund in our custody either from his family or relation before our discovery to this development.

Although personally, I keep this information secret within myself to enable the whole plans and idea be Profitable and successful during the time of execution. The said amount was U.S $9.2M (NINE million TWO hundred Thousand United States dollars).

Meanwhile all the whole arrangement to put claim over this fund as the bonafide next of kin to the deceased, get the required approval and transfer this money to a foreign account has been put in place and directives and needed information will be relayed to you as soon as you indicate your interest and willingness to assist us and also benefit your self to this great business opportunity.

In fact I could have done this deal alone but because of my position in this country as a civil servant(A Banker),we are not allowed to operate a foreign account and would eventually raise an eye brow on my side during the time of transfer because I work in this bank.

This is the actual reason why it will require a second party or fellow who will forward claims as the next of kin with affidavit of trust of oath to the Bank and also present a foreign account where he will need the money to be re-transferred into on his request as it may be after due verification and clarification by the correspondent branch of the bank where the whole money will be remitted from to your own designation bank account.

I will not fail to inform you that this transaction is 100% risk free. On smooth conclusion of this transaction, you will be entitled to 45% of the total sum as gratification, while 55% will be for me. Please, you have been adviced to keep "top secret" as I am still in service and intend to retire from service after I conclude this deal with you.

I will be monitoring the whole situation here in this bank until you confirm the money in your account and ask me to come down to your country for subsequent sharing of the fund according to percentages previously indicated and further investment, either in your country or any country you advice us to invest in.

All other necessary vital information will be sent to you when I hear from you

I look forward to receive your mail

Yours faithfully,

Mr Salihu Ahmed

I have worked at this company for just under 3 years.
I have had stellar performance reviews, along with 3 promotions (this is more promotions than anyone else in my department).
I have never, ever been written up.

That being said -- my ex-boss got a promotion. He is now Sr. Vice President. They kind of "made" up a position for him because he is NOT good with people. He talks bad to his employees and has run off many, many people. So they took him away from people.
I was still his secretary but I was no longer directly his alone; I also had the new person that received his old position.
Anyway, he always comes back from his meetings or whatever, in a bad mood. When he's like that, I can expect to be picked on. He's done it before and I have said nothing.
Last week he brought me into his office and started again with the verbal abuse. Then he called my ideas terrible -- this irritated me. (Stand by for me to continue my question)

in my area, there used to be huge sales at all the stores i.e. Wal Mart, Sears, JCPenney, Big Lots, Fred's etc. This year there hasn't been any talk of the sales. We usually make a day of it with my dad and step mom, and go out for breakfast, and then shop til we drop, but this year there hasn't been any ads for sales at these stores.

Has anyone else noticed this trend? Are there going to be sales and they just haven't sent out ads yet??
