my husband was laid off in another state 6 months ago. we moved to our new state 3 months ago. the problem is, he is still looking for work, and his benefits are going to run out. can he file for unemployment in the new state?

You file in the new state, then the new state sends the info to the old state and you'll get paid according to the rules of the old state.

I was laid off in Florida and moved to PA, and that's what happened to me.

Yes, if you move, you file in the new state and they send the info to the old state - that's no problem. But it sounds like he has been collecting for 26 weeks, which is the limit, so he won't get any more time on it. Once you've used up your benefits, then you can't collect again until you've had another job for a period of time, usually at least two quarters.

Yes but he'll only be entitled to the remaining term of his benefit. If he has one month left then he can collect for one month in his new home state.
