I was looking at another article and this headline came up: Craigslist Nanny Found Dead in Trunk -- http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,30578,00.html How horrific! Apparently a 19-year old in custody used the job ad as a ruse. It happened in Minnesota.

Another link: http://origin.twincities.com/ci_7299353

It just goes to show how one can't really trust an ad just because it is from a well-known job site.

I'm working loosely with a not for profit called SIFE. Our mutual project is to help a student at a NYC college get her product to market. Under what circumstances could we sell the product and not charge sales taxes, if any?

If the venue were at the college, which is itself a not-for-profit, would we be tax-exempt?

I appreciate any and all guidance.

I just started earning my total income as a self-employed, single individual, from years of being in Corporate America. So I am trying to amass as much knowledge about the ways of taxes, now that I no longer have it yanked from my paychecks. One of that parts that I am trying to find out is when do I have to pay my estimated taxes? I have been keeping track of what one-third of each of my paychecks would total up to (rough estimate of my taxes) and setting that aside. Do I have to pay quarterly or do I have the option to pay the whole thing by april 15th?
Thank you for your help!

I am facing foreclosure on my home. I used 100% financing to purchase my home. It was strucutred as an 80/20, with the 2nd being a Home Equity Line Of Credit (HELOC). Now ,I know in California 1st mortgages are non-recourse. I am a bit confused and have gotten mixed feedback on the HELOC. Some say that all HELOCs are recourse loans. Others are telling me that only HELOCs where you have pulled against your equity are recourse, while a HELOC used as a 2nd mortgage to purchase a home is non-recourse. I HAVE NOT refinanced either of my loans and I have not used my HELOC to pull cash out. I simply used as a 2nd mortgage as recomended by my loan officer. Anyone have the answer?

(unportioned tax) (16th amendment:states that a sufficient number of states never ratified the amendment)

35% of a persons yearly [4 months of the year] income is taken away to pay interest of money being produced by the federal reserve bank

this tax should not exist

so there is no law that requires anyone to pay this tax

My biggest dream is to become a pastry chef, not a glamorous one, just a happy semi-successful pastry chef. I love to make desserts, its like art and it makes me and others SO happy. I make cakes from home for fun. But the problem is my parents have always viewed me as the "smart kid" the one with a "good future." When i told them i was leaning away from psychology and toward baking, they nearly passed out. But what confuses me is they've always taught me to do what makes me happy, not rich. I live in the central valley CA so theres not much opportunity for a pastry chef. But i want it so bad, i want to get started while im young and can always change my mind. How do i convince my parents how serious i am? And where do i get my foot in the door to begin with??? Tech schools costs 10s of 1000s of dollars, i cant do that.

Every loan I've had has been 15 days. Our loan was sold to another company and they have not given us any information except for coupons which arrived yeaterday and they state the due date is the 1st. Normally the coupon will state the amount due after the 1st before the 16th and what the amount of the late fee is.

Thanks

I graduated with a bachelor's in computer science.
I am from Mexico but have lived in the US for about 14 yrs. I understand everything in English and I speak English perfectly, the only thing is that I have an accent.

I have been having trouble finding jobs in my career area. Most don't even call me for an interview. So I have lowered my job expectations and now have been applying for technical support, call center jobs. But they have told me that my English is not very good.

I can't understand that. I went through college, have a lot of English speaking friends, not once have they told they didn't understand something I said.

I said, well maybe that's the same for everyone. Yet I hear other people from other countries who speak English much much worse than me, yet they have this high paying jobs, same experience, and even less qualifications than me.

So I reached a conclusion, either I'm being discriminated against... or those people I have heard of are lying and they

Hello,

My mother is disabled with mental illness and is on disability. She is unfortunately not able to make the best decisions with her money. For instance, telemarketers and informercials frequently con her into buying things she can't afford nor does she need.

In addition, she had an x-boyfriend that took advantage of her and had her run up her credit cards for him.

What can I do to prevent my mother from being able to have and use a credit card? Do I need to be her guardian? If I am will I become legaly responsible and liable for her debts and actions?

Any other suggestions on how I can get rid of her credit?

Thanks for your help!

I make about $2,000 a month. I am interested in buying an apartment for, let's say, $150,000. On a 10 year term, at an interest rate of 5.00% a year, the total comes to $1,590.98, according to:

http://www.bankrate.com/brm/mortgage-calculator.asp?unroundedPayment=1590.982728586134&loanAmount=150000.00&nrOfYears=10&nrOfMonths=120&interestRate=5.00&startMonth=9&startDay=28&startYear=2007&monthlyPayment=1590.98&monthlyAdditional=0&yearlyAdditional=0&yearlyAdditionalMonth=9&oneAdditional=0&oneAdditionalMonth=9&oneAdditionalYear=2007&paidOffDate=Oct+28%2C+2017&submit.x=23&submit.y=9

Now, are those figures realistic? I want to move out of my parents house fast. How much would the down payment be? Any other expenses? Would I save money if I rented it out to someone else? Please let me know. Thank you.

I think I may have a small claims court case, but dont want to pay out MORE $$ to file for this ordeal if Im not going to win.
To make a long story short, we came home (rented apt) one day to water all throughout our apt that ruined a lot of our belongings. Come to find out, it was a septic problem that caused the water to be backed up into our apartment that caused the damage.
The carpet was taken out of the hallway & bedrooms & carpet tacking was left exposed ( i have 2 small children). I was told (by the landlord) that we should have had renters insurance becasue if we did, they would have paid for our next months rent (which we had to pay for even though we didnt stay in that apt ONE day during that month bcz of the damage) & our damaged stuff.Since it wasnt our fault, I dont think we should have had to pay that next months rent AND our damaged stuff should have been covered by THEIR ins. Does anyone think I should take them to small claims court??? please help, thanks! =D

I understand that no one can predict a real estate market, but I am just wondering if a new home depriciates in value instantly similar to how a new car depreciates as soon as it's driven off of a lot (understandably not as high a percentage).

I assume I have to plot the periodic prices of a share against the values of the relevant index. Then I would get the equation
Share price = alpha + beta x index value

Is that correct?
