There are a few buildings I saw that were vacant or abandoned. Is there a free web site that I can use to find the owners?

Best way see if county records or tax info is onlines. www.netronline.com has links to most counties' web pages i would look up the assessors info.

On line? Maybe, if the tax assessor's office has a website.

Whoever is on the tax bill is the owner and that has been a very reliable method for me to contact owners.

besides driving around and looking for vacant buildings and calling them. try going into businesses and asking for the owner of the buildings information so you can contact their building's owner and see if he or she has other vacancies elsewhere or if he or she can refer you to other owners for vacant property.

You'll have to research the deeds at the county courhouse. Those records may or may not be available on line.

either try the tax records or see if a local Realtor might be able to help you out.
