It seems like the credit bureaus are just the hired muscle of credit card companies because:

They give a better score for people who have a lot of open credit accounts and

They make life miserable for those who fall behind on payments.

I need a new job! I have put out over 70 resumes to places I have experince for. but I havent heard ONE thing!! Now I know its not my eperience in the work place cuz Im pretty well rounded. So maybe my resume isnt getting my qualitys across right.. can anyone who knows what they are doing mayb eeven someone who works as an HR position help me with my resume? possibly let me send it through email and get it critiqued and edited. Only serious people who KNOW what they are doing.... because i need a professional higher payin job soon. I have put so much effort into it. and to hear NOTHING is very disapointing... please help you could very well get me my next job! I would be so grateful!!!

i received it in the mail months ago, and i never authorized it.. just threw it away. Now when i try to apply for another one, it says i already have an account. Which i do, but i don't have that card, and it was NEVER activated. It was disposed of properly and i know no one has it.. So when i try to contact capital one to get another one shipped to me, every number and internet link asks for the 16 digit number of the card.. and if i say i don't have it, it just asks me again.. What do i do

Is it ethnocentric, inconsiderate, or fair to say that :

1. since illegal immigrants are willing to work for a fraction of the legal minimum wage, for example, maybe $4 an hour without benefits.
2. Africans and other 3rd world people survive on merely pennies a day.

That Americans who make $8-10 an hour, $50 a day are making too much , while spending and wasting too much, thus making them spoiled.

In other words, is it fair to say Americans who make $50 a day, who can lower themselves to the lifestyle of undocumented works or Africans and save 90% of their income?

My boss told me that he was finally starting a 401k. The thing is he said that the company will match 4% for every 5% contributed. That sounds fine but I think that was talking about the company adding the funds once a year as compared to every paycheck. Isn't it better for me to have the company match every pay? Instead of just me adding every pay and the company putting in a lump sum at the end of the year. I feel that I wont earn as much money. Does this seem right ?

My mom is trying to closed on a home refinance. Now she finds a judgement/lien against her from 2001. The company, First Select, Inc. no longer exists and there are slews of complaints about them to better business, etc. The court says the only way to clear it is to pay it. How long does she have to wait for the money to be returned to her?

Long story short: we have been renting for almost a year, and we are now trying to buy a house (not the one we are in). We came up with enough money for a deposit, but we keep hitting little financial "speed bumps", and are having trouble coming up with the $4000 - $5000 for a down-payment.

What would you recomend we do? Is there a special kind of loan for that? We dont have a home under contract yet, so we have a month or more.

I recently got a job in customer service and I'm so nervous each time I go to work. I'm really shy and I'm not really good with interacting with people. I have been working for a while now & am almost finished with working with creditors & paying off debts. I thought that once you paid off a debt, it was removed from your credit report. Now from reading some Q&A's here on YA, I see where the creditors do NOT have to remove that paid collection from my credit report. What? I was prepared for it to stay on my credit report for 7 years, but had no idea that I had to ask to have it deleted from my credit report. What difference would that make - wouldn't it still be on your credit report for 7 years, OR if they did delete the entry from my credit report (like I thought they would), would you then not have to wait those 7 years to have a clear report? I have been working very hard at getting this all taken care of, and now I find out that you have to actually ask creditors to remove the paid items from your report! This doesn't seem fair to me at all! Can someone please explain to me what happens once you pay off in-collection debts?
