When I was 16, I spent $700 for a hard to find model of a left-handed guitar.

Then, being as naive as I was, traded it to the owner of a guitar store for some work on another guitar and product discounts after he told me the guitar was nearly worthless due to its condition.

I later found out he happened to play left-handed guitar (not many people do), and he had been wanting a guitar exactly like that for quite some time.

Quite a coincidence, eh? Was the guitar worthless? No, probably not. Was it worth what I paid for it? No, I don't think so.

Buying expensive items on eBay is really hit or miss.

Fishing gear worth $250 - 500. A lot of sellers are not good at packing, so make sure the item is insured if it is breakable like a fishing rod. The sellers and shipping companies have been pretty easy to work with when I received a damaged item a couple of times. Hope this helps you.
