I work in Nashville, TN and my workplace is always having me stay a couple of more hours than I am scheduled to stay. This is bothersome because there are other people that could to 'prep' and it is not really my job. [once time to leave comes around] I do not mind doing this sometimes, but it gets to the point where it is an everyday thing. They do not ask if I can stay. They demand it, and say if I leave at my specified time then I will get wrote up and possibly fired.. Can they do that? I thought overtime was optional...

i have a charged off credit card from 5 years ago. when i first tried to make payment arrangements the agency told me that i could only either make the full payment, pay half then the other half at a scheduled time, or pay it in three payments. it was still too much for me at the time and i couldn't find enough funds for any of those options. due to not making much money at the time, i didn't try again to pay it. i spoke to a new agency recently that told me i can now make monthly payments (which will still take a few years to pay off). however, it's been five years now and i have actually been able to rebuild my credit score which is around 650 now. is it worth it to do the monthly payments for a few years or should i wait another 2 years for it to fall off my report? i can do the monthly payment but i am also a full time student still struggling. any advice?

Hi, I just checked my FICO credit score thru TransUnion and it says I got a score of 770 out of a possible 850. Now I know its a high score but how high is it really? What does this score really mean. What can I do with this score? Home loan and for how much can I be loaned from a bank having this score? I am a school bus driver and make $30,000 and my wife also makes about $30,000 a year. What kind of loan can we get with our incomes and credit score? What do banks really look at besides credit scores and income? I know the score is good but how is our income for home loans? Thank you for your time and thank you in advance for any help :-)

I am a resident of New York City & I recently started my first full-time job. I was told my annual salary will be $35,100 and will get paid bi-weekly. I was wondering if there is a website or something where I can calculate how much my paycheck would be once taxes are taken out? I'm not sure if this matters but on my W-4 I have a total of 2 personal allowances (not a dependent & single w/ one job). Thank you.

He was very hard working. He knew his technical field. But he was "laid-off" so that his manager could hire a crony. It's a technical field and he signed a 2 year "non-compete" agreement when he took his job. I would think that if a company lets you go, the non-compete should not be binding. Any opinions?

All the print-off shipping labels I have seen are 4" by 6" and the biggest face of my box is smaller than that. It says in the instructions not to fold the label over edges or anything. I know I could use a bigger box but it would be nice not having to use so much packing material for just an MP3 player. Could I just use a bunch of stamps?

The Dow opened in 1896 at $40 and was $1000 in 1972. That is exactly inflation. The Dollar decreased to 1/25 of its 1896 value. That means, until 1972, the Dow merely kept par with inflation.
The original dow comprised of only 12 stocks. Adjusted for that, the picture looks even more desolutionary. If you invested money in the Dow in 1896, you would have in 1972 less money, then you put in.
Only under Clinton, the Dow hauled from 2700 to 10,500 by the end of his tenure (1993 to 2000).
Since Bush (2000) the Dow has not kept up with inflation again, similar like it didn't the first 78 years.
Without the 401's in Mutual Funds, the Dow would most likely be at 3000 today.
My question is, where does the myth come from, that investing in stocks or funds will increase your wealth over the long run?
Or is that a marketing lie to cash in on us stupid sheep?

if a company is going to start a new project that will last four years and they spend $200,000 on equipment how do you figure out what the depreciation rate will be at the end of each of the four years? By a special
ruling, the machinery could be depreciated under the
MACRS system as 3-year property. The applicable depreciation
rates are 33%, 45%, 15%, and 7%
do these percentages mean anything I just don't understand
