My Mom passed 6 years ago. Before her passing she cashed out her annuities and savings to avoid the hospital getting the money. The money went to a trust and then to me. At her death we sold her house and cleared probate and then I received the proceeds.

The IRS is now saying that when she cashed out the annuities she never paid taxes on the income. Nw the IRS is saying the estate owes money to the IRS. Do I personally owe the money? FYI it's been spent over the 6 years.

I have a small 403B account from a job I know longer work at. I am wondering if I can somehow close out the account and withdraw the money. Its not much but my family is relocating and it would help out. I'm wondering how I would go about doing this, and how much it would cost me in fee's. I'm not sure if it matters, but I live in Minnesota and I stopped working for this company in Dec. 2006. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I can't afford to see a financial planner or attorney or anything lilke that right now.

I intend to run my own real estate investment company and would like the following questions answered. My understanding is that the pros use hard money to fund their deals and if they dont sell the rent the property. After some analysis i realized that after rehabing the property and you decide to rent, 90% of the time the rental doesnt cover the mortagage. How long do you have to carry the negative loss assuming you have 10 properties at one time ?

I am using a money order to pay for an ebay item. The seller has asked that I sign the order. I have never had to sign one before, usually there isn't even a place on the slip to do so. Do I sign or not? Thanks.

We found a real estate agent who charges 5% commission to sell our home (2% for herself, 3% for buyer's agent). Is that a good deal? She really knows the area, especially the townhouse community in which we live, so we figure that it's better to have a real estate agent who knows the market and can get our house sold fast rather than trying to find someone else who charges less commission.

We want to know what you all think. Thanks!

Im sick of hearing about how they have the best prices! for one i think there are plenty of businesses that compete with them and two WHO CARES! you might save 5 or 10 cents on tube socks but in the end your letting this corporate behemoth to get away with.
(1) Not paying their employees a liveable wage, Its so bad that many Wal-Mart employees are collecting off of social service programs ..Paid for by taxpayers!
(2) Not giving thier employees a viable health care program, Instead they instruct their emploees how to get Goverment subsidized health care easier..Again paid for by taxpayers.
(3) they encourage companies to relocate (outsource) to other contries when they cannot get goods from the for lower prices, Hey Wal Mart your idea that you can set a price has outsourced hundreds of thousands of jobs ..but they dont care and niether will the public until its sent into a depression and there no longer is a middle class!!!

Thats a hell of a price to pay to save 10 cents on sock

I have been with Bupa health insurance for years but have never used them. I'm 21, Do you think I'm to young to need insurance as I will most likely not need any untill I'm in my 40s. Is it a wast of money? Its only £52 a month so not to expensive but I suppose I could spend the money on things I enjoy. What do you think.

My husband divorced his ex wife 8 years ago. Since, she has become delinquent on a large number of debts. She recently moved and neglected to update her contact info with the debt collectors. We don't know how, but the collections agencies have got both our mailing address and home phone number. Now that they can't reach my Husband's ex they've begun to harass us. We know all of her current contact info (address, phone and email). How do we update her contact information so they will leave us alone!

Okay, this summer I finally have a full time job, and soon it will be senior year. I know there will be plenty of costs to go with this, but my problem is I have trouble saving money. As soon, as I get it, its gone, even if I really know that I"m going to need it the next day. Its sick.

Well, I was wondering do banks have savings account where you can put money in, but you can't take money out until a certain date, or under certain circumstances? I will be 18 Friday so I will be able to open my own account and stuff. (I already have a shared account with my mom) That would make my life a whole lot easier.

If not, do you have any suggestions as to how I could save money, I will be making about 1200 dollars this summer, but I want to save 1000.

I'm 20 years old and currently live at home with my mom and 17yr old brother. I work a full time job and pay 75 dollars a week to live there(that's the price of a 1 bdrm apartment here. I pitch in on the groceries also, for my share. My brother doesn't have a job, but he still has a year of high school to go..

Before, my mom was just handing me bills to pay, so I decided that I should pay 75 dollars a week, so that I could be on a budget, that way I could have a savings account.
She was more than okay with that and told me that she wouldn't hand me anymore bills. Anyways, she is in a financial mess and has been for a long time. She took bankruptcy one year and we had a house foreclosed on. Now, she's trying to get this house refinanced. Also, the satellite has just been disconnected(no biggie), her car insurance has just been dropped(it's a 2004, so should have full coverage), and she's asking me for a favor this week to pay 179 dollars for the electric bill.
