I have been working with this company for 1 month 11 days. It is a good company and I enjoy it, despite the expected stressful times. In this period, I have only asked off for 1.5---1/2 day to come back on a Monday after being gone 3 hours away helping my mother-in-law move across town and my boss was fine with that, I made it back by 3:00pm; the 2nd day was to go to a new student orientation at a university and my boss got antsy about it. Coming up July 16-19, my sister has her last cheerleading competition, she's a senior, 3 hours away. I want to go Mon & Thurs and will work Tues, Wed, & Fri. Our business nature is bidding so you never know when a deadline is due. I am executive assistant to the owner and I believe he will give me trouble about this. How and when should I approach him on this matter? He will be out of the office the next week. Seeing my sister this last summer is very important to me!!!

My roommate and I have lived for a year in a large one bedroom apartment. She has a cat and plants. The cat has ripped up the carpet, the water from the plants has destroyed the carpet too. We are most likely going to lose the security deposit. Should she pay me for the loss?

I'm curious. I'm trying to get my friend a job here @ work, she already had an interview, both of my bosses really liked her. I'm only referring her because I know she's a really good worker. She was the first person to interview, & the other person didn't show up. So my boss requested from HR for 2 more candidates to interview. Today were the interviews, only one of the people showed up. My boss called HR again explaining that the other person didn't show up & requested AGAIN for 2 more candidates to interview asap. I don't get why he needs 2 more people to interview. He even asked me the other day about my friend if she was still interested & I told him she was & she's just waiting right now. He told me that if it was his company he would've hired her already, it's just that he can't just interview 1 person that's why he requested to interview other people. He's already asked me a couple times about my friend. I know they liked her. It's been 2 weeks since the interview.

I am 18 and have worked the past two summers, and have about 5k (will have about 9k at end of summer). I am attending college next year and have recieved many scholarships. All of my school is paid for (all four years). Is there a good reason that I should invest some money instead of just letting it sit in the bank? If so, why and what should I invest in?

My business did not succeed, and I had to move temporarily back to my parents house. So living expenses are taken care off for now.

I am 32 and my physics degree is well out of date now.
What is the best way ,or best job option that doesnt require prior experience, to earn $20,000 in six months?

Thanks
Chris

Heres the story, let me make it clear and as simple as possible.

I sold my imac on eBay for $999.00
2 Months later paypal contacts me saying that there was a charge back request and i have to pay it. (not even investigating!)
I call them, unfortunately, the credit card used to buy my item was stolen and the persons paypal account was fake, just made up for that one trans.

The person who lost thier credit card got the money from their bank cuz they had an insurance on it, The bank got the money from Paypal, paypal demands money from me. I don't have the item since i shipped it to the fu**ing bast*rd that stole the credit card to buy my imac. Now guess who's the looser!!!?? ME!!!! everyones else benefited right!!!

EVEN the guy that stole the credit card!

After like 20 calls to paypal, with complaints like, why are you just charging me the money without investigating, they reply by: "things like these happen to paypal every day. If we were to investigate all of them, we wouldn't able

I am looking into building a house. The problem is say I own a house worth x dollars and I owe less than the value of the house. I took out a home equity line of credit for the balance of the homes value. Now the problem is that land costs roughly the whole amount of the line of credit so if I buy the land I will have no money to start construction on the land I would now own. Is there a loan the banks can give me with next to no payments until the new house is built so I can sell the first to pay off the line of credit and the first mortgage?

I started a new job with a friend, and they pay us with personal checks. At the end of the year I want to declare my taxes, but how much or what is the exact percent that they deduct from each pay check.. I know that the more you get paid, the more taxes you pay.. But, is there an exact percent for that? I just want to know so when the tax period comes, I know how much I need to pay and not get any surprises. Please help!!!!!

I have two jobs coming up, and I want to know what the reasonable charge is. In a of couple days, I'm babysitting a 2-month old baby and and 1 1/2 year old girl. There hasn't been any talk of how much the parents are willing to pay, and as they are good family friends, I don't want to overcharge or seem greedy. What is a reasonable price that I should ask for?

The second job is in about a month, and I'm going to be baby-sitting a fairly large group of kids (not siblings), ranging from 2 months to seven years old. The parents are offering me $50, and I am wondering if that is a fair amount to be paid, considering how many kids I'm going to be watching for at least three hours. And, as it is a church group for married couples (I'm watching their kids), I'm liable to taxation on whatever amount I get, because I have to fill out a certain form from the church. That's a lesser concern. I just need to know the reasonable prices for each of these situations and why.

Thanks.

My friendand her husband bought a house last year and the monthly payment was high but they were told to refinance it to a lower payment in a year when they built equity.

Well, they never built equity and their savings is gone because they used money from savings every month to make their house payment even though they are both working.

So next month and every month after they will be short $600/month on their house payment. They cut back on their spending, but they still can't make the high payments.

What options do they have?

Sell it? Rent it out? Can they refinance for a 40 year loan?

Any ideas? If they sell it then they will take a loss since the market slowed down in their city.

I am currently trying to get a mortgage with my girlfriend. We went to a mortgage company first and he ran our credit and everything and advised us to pay off some stuff that was "derogatory" and we did. Then the best he could do was like 20% down and an interest rate of like 11%. So I called a company that specializes in FHA loans and he said that everything looked good except I had a 16k dollar judgment against me from a hospital. He went on to tell me that FHA won't do a loan with a judgement that high. I was in the hospital for 4 days and at the time I didn't have insurance. This was 4 years ago. My girlfriend and I are both single parents. She has 2 kids(8,10) and I have 1(11) We both are raising them on our own and have been since they were babies. We desperately need help!! We are currently renting the house that we're trying to buy. The owners don't want to rent anymore, as they are trying to purchase another house. Anyone have any suggestions!!? Please!!

I went to a second interview for a graduate accounting job and was made a job offer the same day... I received a letter the next day with the job offer stating it will start in August and of the salary... they wanted a written decision which I sent.

How long do I have to wait until I sign contracts or will that be something done when i actually start? I've handed in my notice into my current job already...

We are selling our home by owner and do not have a contract/offer yet, but would like to make a bid on a house we saw. The Realtor who has been showing us homes insists we must list our house with her (or another agent) in order for our bid to be taken seriously and in some cases, accepted. Is this true?

OK, it's very simple.

You pay a 5% flat tax on all income. No deductions. AND you pay a 5% consumption tax on everything purchased.

We raise the "poverty level" to something that makes sense, and those that are below this, get all their 5% flat tax refunded. But they still have to pay the 5% consumption tax (of course, welfare will still be there to supplement to some degree).

Perhaps we could exclude certain necessities (prescriptions, basic foods, etc.)

Businesses would pay either 5% of profit...or 2% of revenues...WHICHEVER IS THE GREATEST. Why? Because if it's whichever is the least, they'll make sure that the figure it such that their profits are virtually non-existent.

Takes away the 1000's of pages of income tax prep.

Congress doesn't get as much? TOUGH! Learn to make the wise, hard decisions the rest of us have to make ever payday. Forced efficiency will result. Forget "revenue neutral."

Thoughts?
