There isn't an activation fee, but don't wait too long to use it, since there is a non-use fee which can totally wipe out the value of the card.

I bought a bunch of these a few years back at a Simon Mall to use as client gifts. Had one left over, and found it a year and a half later. It's original value had become zero, and it was worth $50 to start with.

They charge you a few dollars to purchase the card. Some charge a monthly fee and a non use fee. Better to get them a Wal Mart card. No fees.

yeah, i think its a five to ten dollar charge
