I'm curious. I'm trying to get my friend a job here @ work, she already had an interview, both of my bosses really liked her. I'm only referring her because I know she's a really good worker. She was the first person to interview, & the other person didn't show up. So my boss requested from HR for 2 more candidates to interview. Today were the interviews, only one of the people showed up. My boss called HR again explaining that the other person didn't show up & requested AGAIN for 2 more candidates to interview asap. I don't get why he needs 2 more people to interview. He even asked me the other day about my friend if she was still interested & I told him she was & she's just waiting right now. He told me that if it was his company he would've hired her already, it's just that he can't just interview 1 person that's why he requested to interview other people. He's already asked me a couple times about my friend. I know they liked her. It's been 2 weeks since the interview.

So i'm confused if he's interested in hiring her. I don't bug him about this.......so he doesn't feel the need to have to explain anything to me. He comes up to me himself and asks me about my friend and if she's interested and he explains the situation. So it seems like that he wants to hire her, but I don't know why still needs to keep requesting to interview more people. We only have one position open, so they're only hiring one person. And he has to hire someone right away, but it's taking even longer with all these interviews he wants to do. Any thoughts?

the # of people getting interviewed for this keeps going up. first it was 2(her and another person who didn't show up)....then he requested 2 more(which would be 3 now) one person didn't show up so he's requesting 2 more....which all together he would have interviewed 4 people at the end of this. He only started off with 2 candidates to interview.....that should've been the minimum. this is confusing....hehe

As an employee, you shouldn't jump on the first offer you receive. You may like the place. It may be what you are looking for, almost. Then a few days/weeks go by and you interview somewhere else and THAT is your perfect fit. That is what the company is doing. Just making sure.....

It is apparent that your company's HR department requires a minimum number of candidates be interviewed for an open position. Until your boss meets that quote of interviewees, he will have to continue asking for more candidates.

This is a very common practice in business.

Could be hes just trying to be fair and interview as many candidates as possible. Could be hes covering his back in case someone suggests possible favoritism/nepotism! Just a thought.
