Does anyone know specifically of any grants or methods of obtaining a grant as financing for a small business start-up? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For example, time share companies routinely pay fees in the form of gifts or cash for people to come here the schpiel, knowing that they will close a certain percentage of lookers. I'm looking for other examples llike this in the non-internet world for an article I'm writing comparing pay per click advertising to off-line business.

I recently graduate from college and thinking about purchasing my first real estate property. At first I was looking at single-family homes and town homes, but now I am thinking that a multi unit might be a better investment. I am making around $60K and looking at possible investment. My mind-set is that with a multi unit I can live on one of the apartment and rent out the rest to tents. Bases on my calculation and the kind of property I buy (condition and location) I can have zero percent vacancy within a short period and the income would cover all my expenses, and I would be pretty much be living there for free take home any additional income. Thanks a lot for your inputs in advance.

The only cons I have thought of are maintenance cost . Unplanned, emergency maintenance cost is my only worry, because if something major happens to the building, then I might not have the huge amount of money to repair. I appreciate all the inputs I can get

We live in Ohio. If my husband wants to install remote starts from our home garage, on the side from his regular job. Would he require a business permit if it is our home?
Are they expensive, and at what point are you required to have a business permit to do a service from your home?
Should this prove to work out well, and we decided to actually open a business outside of our home, what happens to that permit? Can they be updated, or will an entirely different permit need to be purchased?

When a transaction of $10,000 or more occurs it is mandatory for the institutions involved to report this to the IRS. I just heard that this "limit" has been lowered to $5000 since the beginning of 2007 Does this statement hold any validity? If so what can 1 expect to occur if for example a few $8000 transactions occurred without this new knowledge?

If you are facing a foreclosure and you owe more than your house is worth, does trying to sell it help? Knowing you won't get the amount that you owe, is it even worth putting it on the market? The lender(s) and borrower have already communicated, but financial situations are not getting any better and a foreclosure is right around the corner. No family to borrow from, none of us have any $$$ to lend. So what's a person to do? Just let foreclosure happen?

My married friends and I are considering buying a house together, to be used as our primary residence (not as an investment property). We have somewhat disparate credit (I have a 700 FICO but less income and they have a 625 FICO but better income). They are very trustworthy and longtime friends, so the credit issue isn't a concern. What would be the best option for a real estate partnership?

What have been your expierences and is it worth it? I have bad credit and recently paid of all my debt and the only thing that is still in good standing and being paid on time every month is my car. I am wanting to rebuild my credit, but i dont really like credit cards and if i apply for somthing like a walmart or gas card, i dont want to risk being denied and t look bad on my credit. So is a pre-paid a good way to do that? If there is somthing that i might have a better chance of getting approved for please let me know..my score is 540 =(

so, my husband has a vehicle that he uses 100% for work, and put over 26,000 miles on it last year...at the 2006 standard milage rate of 44.5 cents/mile that would be a deduction of over $11,500, BUT (here the question) we only had about $1200 in federal with holding..so can we only get a refund for as much as we paid --up to $1200, or will be getting more b/c of our large deduction?
