I am 20 years old and about to have my first child.. I have worked some before, but it has never been a substantial amount of time, so i can't put it on an application as work history. It wouldn't look good. After i have the baby i am going to stay home for a few months, but then i have to get a job. I don't want to work at fast foor or gas stations, nothing wrong with that, but its not my thing. Is there any advice you can give on things i can do to up my chances on getting a decent job?

My boyfriend and I have two children. We both work. He works full time, I work part time. He is claiming our two children on his taxes for the earned income tax credit.

My question is, since I earned less than $4000 (just started working in Oct), can I claim zero dependants and take the $160 earned income credit since I am filing single status, or am I disqualified for this because he is getting a credit back for our two children?

My resume is somewhat spotty due to moving and economy-related issues, and then pursuing an education in an entirely new field. I want part-time work while I finish my education. Is it ok to put a brief mention in the resume under certain jobs (as to why they were shorter stints)? Otherwise I feel like they may think I'm flightly when I'm not & throw out the resume. My attendance & performance is A+.

I'm in public relations and I'm basically very good at what I do: writing and media relations. I'm a reliable workhorse. But creativity and "brainstorming" are part of my job also. I can come up with creative ideas when I'm alone and have time to think (I'm an introvert), but if I'm in a meeting with others, it's like I can't think! Everyone else can come up with a ton of ideas on the spot, but I throw out maybe one or two. When I do come up with an idea, half the time, the VP makes a face, critiques the idea or looks at the prez as if to say, "Should I waste my time even writing that idea down?" I feel so inadequate by comparison and intimidated. What do I do? Am I doomed to never go past the Account Supervisor level? I'm afraid to go to another agency, for fear things could be even worse there! Things are bad where I am now, but the turnover is low. I think I could stay as long as I get along with the VP. How do I grow professionally? How do I learn to brainstorm successfully?

My bank gave me a debit card and with it comes up to 300.00 over the amount i have in the bank for just in case purposes but what they failed to tell me was that for every charge over what i have in the bank they will charge me 31.00 even if it is a dollar. I think it is rediculous they put the 300.00 on there for a reason and now they are charging me for this. my ? is does the USA have a law like the UK does on getting back your rediculous bank fees

I sold the home for $10000 more than I paid for it, but after all fees I walked away from closing with about $1100 in my pocket. I have read the rules on the IRS website, but do not understand them. I had to sell the house due to a change in my duty station. Will I have to pay taxes on this? If so, is it prorated? Please only respond if you can leave a legit reference. Thanks you for you replies.

I am a preschool teacher in CA. My employer wants all the teachers to take CPR/first aid training. We did this 2 years ago, so I guess this is to renew it. Anyhow - this is an 8 hour course done on a saturday after completing a 40 hour work week, or over two evenings, 4 hours each, emidately after completing an 8 hour work day. Is this legal to require us to do this for free!? Shouldn't we not only be getting paid, but recieving overtime? And what about travel expenses if we have to drive further for this training? Does anyone know where I can find legal documention to prove my case? Thanks! I didn't question doing this for free last time (probably because I was a new hire), but I don't want to do it again!
