My husband and I are currently paying PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance) on our mortgage. (We have no second mortgages.) I know we need twenty percent equity in order to eliminate PMI, but I don't think we're quite there. Is taking out a home-equity line of credit to pay down the mortage a good idea? I know that we'd then have two loans to pay, but the PMI would be eliminate and all of our payments (minus the interest) would be going toward the loan rather that insurance. Is it possible to get a home-equity line of credit for 6%?

So, I bought a new paper shredder on eBay and it came to me as scratched, but was listed as new. He also leaves feedback for his customers everyday, but skipped over me and still hasn't left feedback when I brought it up. (I could care less about the feedback, but I use that as a tool to tell the seller's confidence of the sale) Well, the seller is basically saying it would be easier for both of us for me to buy a new one from Staples and return the defective one. (He gets his supply from Staples.com) He also mentioned it is under warranty and I could go through the mfr to get a replacement.

He also mentioned I could send it back back to him, but I would have to pay for the shipping to send him the scratched one.

So, if I don’t do the routine at the Staples store, who pays for shipping?

My financial planner advised me to take out as many subsidized student loans as the government would give me and to invest them in medium, or if I am uneasy about it, low-risk investments. Is this advisable?

Hi there
Alright I love my job but my problem is that my co-worker is always absent. She has missed 25 days so far this year because she is apparently "Sick" (even though I have caught her lying) so now I'm doing my job plus whatever needs to be done at her job. She also comes and goes as she pleases soemtimes showing up @10am and leaving at 4PM are hours are 8 -4 M-F or later depending on the work load - we both do exactly the same tyoe of work. She has not put in 40hours a week in 7 weeks. My bosses seem to just blow it off, but it is really starting to irritate me and make me dislike coming to work. Do I have a right to be irrated?? So my problem is that I'm not sure if I should voice my feeling to my bosses of if I should just keep them to myself. Thanks for those who could help or even relate.

PS I have already spoke to her about 5 months ago cuz i found out she was missing work because of drugs and she got back on track for a little while but now I don't know what to believe

I desperately need some advice.
before my husband and i got married, he had a credit card which was paid off by the time we got married. (this was 10 years ago!!). he never closed the account though because somebody told him it was always good to have credit open for good credit scores. last week he gets a letter that he needs to go to a superior court. we have no idea what it's for, so he contacts his friend which is a lawyer. apparently, there was a 6000 charge on that open account FROM YEARS AGO. we moved a couple of times so supposedely they tried to contact my husband but was nowhere to be found. now he is expected to pay this 6000 for something we never bought!!! the lawyer will call the credit card company today to see if they will take less. but my point is WHY do WE have to pay for a fraud?? anybody been in this situation before? they did verify with my husband it is his name and ss#.. what can we do?? please help with any useful advice.. thank you!! :(

I just had an interview and asked them not to contact my current employer unless they are offering me the position. Now I am wondering what my current employer may say if they get such a call. My employer is wonderful and seems quite happy with me. They are however not nice to previous employees or those they find out are looking into other options. If you see my other question, it deals with my current employer. I asked the question for one of my previous co-workers.

I purchased a bedroom furniture set from Lack's furniture. I got a great price as this set was being discontinued. I did the 12 month no interest contract. Now I am being told the furniture is no longer available. They would like me to come in and pick out another set, at a discount price of course. They want me to cancel the first contract and start over. I want them to honor the contract in place. What is their obligation? What is mine? Is this what is referred to as "Bait and Switch"?

My brother and I inherited a house on 1 acre of property in Ohio. My uncle has just listed for sale the adjacent 25 acres. Should we bundle our property to his or try to sell independently? My uncle can be stubborn and may prove to be an obstacle to selling, as he awaits a "worthwhile" offer. However, if we sell on our own, we may lose out on a developer's offer. And at what point in the process can we legally set how proceeds will be divided between me and my brother, and/ or my uncle?
