Let's see, in a 52-week range of around 52-32 and it is a little shy of 42 today, Sony (SNE) doesn't sound too bad. Sure there is some bad press. Certainly there are problems. At over 35 the price to earnings ratio shows it is still overbought--as some measure it--but why would that be so? Sony is with a consortium with IBM and Toshiba on some super powerful computing for the popular consumer. The new playstation is a trial balloon for that computing technology and it has some enormous potential. Sony may win and may lose on the laser technology, but if consumers jump on their bandwagon, Sony will likely win big. The Sony-Erickson music phone is doing good business. The new Bond movie tie-ins could generate some buzz. The question then is do you want a piece of that action?

I've seen some great investments, and Sony today is not really one of them. I've seen some bad investments, and Sony today is not one of them. The question for you [applying my best Jack Nickleson impression] "Do you feel lucky?" If you are wrong, you probably won't lose much. If you are right, then it could be setting some new highs and beyond in a fairly short time. Polish off your crystal ball on what flies and doesn't, then decide.
