Your landlord has the right to limit the amount of time a guest can stay. If you want your friends to stay more than the allotted time then you would need to ask if they can be added to your lease and then of course there would be an increase of rent. If you want your friends to come and go as you please, my only suggestion would be for you to purchase your own house.

Read your rental agreement.Having a friend over for the night is not usually a problem.Extended stays can fall into a different catigory,.I.E. You are in a 1 bedroom apt.rented by the owner as a 1 person occupancy. You might check local ordinances, but most times the owner/landlord has the right to increase rent in such a situation.

Not real unusual, especially in a private house. The landlord isn't so much trying to get your money, but discourage overnight visitors.

Do you have a private entrance? If so, you should contact Legal Aid or an attorney. As long as you pay rent, you are entitled to your space and your life, so long as you aren't destroying property or creating a nuisance (excessive noise).
