I am an occasional investor in stocks and shares. I wish to start investing online as I don't have time to visit the broker. What are my options, and which brokerage firm would be the best and why? How do I go about joining it? What books should I read and where are they available? What are the online resources for research, on Indian companies, that are free? Can somebody donate me old books on this subject?

Any general amount, something that would set you up for life.

Here's what I would do: buy a bigger vehicle so my two boys would have more leg room (they're growing fast), get a big trampoline to jump on in our back yard, buy some fun stuff for my kids and then pay my mom's heating bills for the next 10 years and buy her a nice car and get my stepdad a car too and then buy them a new entertainment center.

I love photography, I just dont like taking pictures of people very much. When I think of ways to make money (weddings, events, journalism, portraits) they all involve taking pictures of people. Is there any hope of working as a photograhper taking pictures of something other than people

Phone a company and get through to India, and have to explain the same thing over again. I am so annoyed with this system, which I find unacceptable as its costing us pounds to say the same thing over again because they do not listen or understand you. I had this problem today with Sky, I bet its cost me a tenner in phone calls, because they didn't understand what I was saying. How can you not understand "My Sky+ box does not work", quite simple really, don't you think. It gets to the point that I end up putting the phone down, as I am sick of saying the same thing over, it shouldn't be that difficult. Its just the same when you phone the bank, god knows how many more companies use India as their call centres.

Therefore, my question is, Do you find this frustrating and have you had similar situations happen to you, as I hope I'm not alone in my thinking. I'm on my Soap Box today.

We are debating if its a good time to buy a home right now. We don't have the moeny down for the closing costs but we are thinking of making an offer & asking the seller to help w/ that. The possible loan is through our bank & I'm just not really sure if 7.7% is good or not.
We have bad credit. Husband score is like 560 & I'm 650 but a stay at home mom.

How do we treat the the premium that the buyer had paid for it if that person died and then the insurance company iussed the check for the beneficiary?
For example, the buyer paid 3100 for the insurance and then the buyer died, the insurance company issued the check for 14,643 for the beneficiary(included 14,000 on proceeds and 643 in interest), obviously 643 is taxable, but how do treat the 3100 that the buyer paid for the premium?
Thanks

We are moving and have to leave before our old house is sold, we will give our realtor full "rights" to sell this house without us being around. But until it is sold we have a family with 3 kids wanting to rent the house till it is sold. Should we do this especially since we can't be here to check if they clean it up before prospective buyers come around to look at it? We are quite torn over this....

I've been on my current job for six months and I like it. I get paid well, treated good and the job is great. But I just met my ex-boss -which was very good to me as well- and he offered me to re-join the company I worked for before with the same position I have now but a slightly bigger salary.

I worked for that company for three years, and they tried to hold me back when I decided to move for a way bigger salary to my current company, to no avail. I'm contemplating right now, but I need some insights.

So, aside from the slight raise of current salary, what would really make you move back if you were me?
