You're at "that" age. Not old enough to work at a real job unless you can find a store that you can work at after school, but your studies could very well suffer and honestly that's the LAST thing you need at your age.
School IS the way out of poverty but knowing that you need money now, try these:
The "NO DUH"s of working but you MUST be able to be responsible, kind, and VERY hard working. Training will be paramount for some of the following:
Babysitting - yeah I know, but a GOOD babysitter is HARD to find. Take the Red Cross courses for first aid and rescue breathing then you can put that ON your ads at grocery store ad boards - maybe you already know some adults with small children - one good client can spread the word fast! Just make sure you're NOT on the phone or on the net when you are supposed to be babysitting, VERY bad things can happen if you turn your back even on a baby you don't "think" can get into trouble. Also remember NEVER NEVER NEVER shake anyone, ESPECIALLY a baby! Brain damage or death could occur.
Mowing lawns - you can't imagine how many people make a GOOD living if they are diligent enough and clean enough. If you just see what others in your area are charging for this service and then see what you can charge or add a service (like raking leaves) to your job services, you'd be amazed how many people, especially those who don't have time or elderly who can't get around as much, will pay someone else to help them out. Always be kind, smile and have a good time. Be careful with the music when doing yardwork... you need to be able to see and HEAR that blade!
Paper route: all of the above would be nice to have parent's help with but this one takes some real effort and support from a parent. If snow is in your area, you will need some help with your route from time to time. It's decent money but, again, you MUST be responsible and careful. Keeping up with who is paid and who isn't is imperative (go look up imperative!).
Are you a geek? No, it's NOT a bad thing... a GEEK is writing this! I have been in computers for 17 years... If you can show someone how to use the internet, set up and use email online, use a word processor or any number of things, you have a built in job. Your hardest job will be advertising your skills and getting just a few to try you then WATCH OUT! Your popularity might get a little overwhelming. (Hopefully for you but not before summer!!)
Every single job out there takes WORK, but there is work out there for those who WANT to work. You don't just want money, you want to find something that you do well and DO IT WELL so that you're the BEST someone will know to be able to tell their friends too!

get a paper-route....i had one, and the christmas tips are great. With my paper-route, I had like 40 customers, and every two weeks I'd make 40-50 dollars, come around christmas, I made about $300.00 in Christmas tips.
You can start baby-sitting.
Try to mow as many lawns as possible, because you don't have alot of time left.
Try doing yard-work for people. Raking, their leaves...etc.
Come winter-time, knock on peoples doors, and ask to shovel their snow......um............
Some movies theatres will let you work there if you're 14 i'm pretty sure, and I think the pay isn't all that bad since you're only 13/14. I think its like $5.15 an hour or something.........

In the afternoons or on the weekend you can do surveys online.
Plus since you are in school and have a lot of classmates, refer your friends and you'll add on bonus cash.
The program I've been working with is Fusion Cash.
So far I've earned over $160 with Fusion Cash.
A friend of mine told me about Fusion Cash and I wasn't sure about it at first then I finally gave it a try and made $80 in 3 hours. And they give your $5 for just signing up. So you don't lose anything. I just completed surverys and was sent trial products, which my family and I enjoyed.

You get extra $ when you refer your friends, which is a great bonus, but I find completing the surveys to be just as benefical.

Babysitting, lawn and sidewalk care (mowing lawns, shoveling snow, raking leaves), dog walking... Just make sure you know how to do it the way your employer wants. Ask lots of questions and never be shy to ask for help when you need it. Try asking friend's parents, neighbors you know and friends of your parents. It's a good idea to work with your parents on safety measures, their rules, etc first. Decide on your price range first so you don't end up agreeing to a price lower than you wanted to. That's a bummer. Good luck and SAVE that money! Well, at least half of it.

Dogsitting and dogwalking is a great way to make cash. Try putting signs up in parks and other places where people walk their dogs. You could also make some flyers and leave them at pet stores and vet offices.

You can start a dog/house/babysitting service or even lawn maintenance. I know a 15 year old who has saved thousands of dollars each summer by doing lawns.

when I was a kid ...now I'm talking back in the days.me and my brother use to shine shoes..we were poor and we gave the money to our mom..What I would suggest is take orders from family members and friends of the family for taffy apples...the schools do it all the time..why not make your own profit..buy them whole sale and sell them for a profit...once you get the taste of how to buy and resell,,who knows??
