I recently quit my job because after I had a discussion with my boss about life and what i was trying to get out of it. Pretty much saying i wanna be my own boss. And I told her i was starting a vending machine service I purchased a real nice candy machine and i asked if i could place it in at my work. It would help me cause i would b around it all day if anything were to happen I mean pretty much just use it as a 'test market'. and she pretty much just laughed me off basically told me it was a dumb idea. her reason for not letting me put it in there is it would cut into their candy selling. because one of the ladies in a office sells candy n chips and what not. she quote 'Yeah I could give you a chance but I dunno if I will' that was it. i was polite and told her thanks for her time and walked out of her office. the next week i didnt return to work. i just cant work for someone that dont care about me... now where do i go? and suggestions?

I was employed by a major company in Georgia in their sales division (before today). I was on vacation for a week due to my family was having some problems. I came back, I gave a two weeks notice and said that i was moving back home which was in another state. I had taken the rest of the week off and on the day that I gave the notice, I went home to check my work email and noticed the password and user ID were not working. on Friday I had to attend a baby shower at the corporate office for a friend and everyone was saying "I thought you were going to another company" and I told them all no and that I had just put in my notice. I went to work today and could not get on the computer to log in or clock in, i went to talk to the asst. location manager and he said that individuals in the sales divisions are not allowed to work trought their 2 weel or what ever notice they had given and i did not see that in the policy hand book. Is this illegal? can i file a complaint with the DOL?

I need to know the validity of this check. I checked the internet and found U.S. Financial Life Ins. Co and also Brokers Alliance,Inc. both of which are listed on the check. I called the claims agent and he said I would recieve my complete winnings in 24 hours of the fees being verified. Has anyone else been in this situation?

Our office has been getting quite a few new employees recently, and there are more on the way. It is very important that people be consistent with procedures. Someone suggested that we make a book/instruction manual to orient new people. It would need to explain procedures as well as give detailed information of the forms we use and when we use them. What I need are suggestions for how to do this effectively and concisely. I'm not really sure where to begin. There is a lot of information to work with and I really don't want to write a novel.

I work for a college as a computer tech with various duties. I found out that another woman at one of our sister colleges does the same work and makes more pay plus is a grade higher. We have been here for the same time. I submitted paper work to get the same money and grade as her and was rejected and they won't say why. I filed for grievance with the union and was told to redo my job descrpition as closely as I could to hers and resubmit it. I have until december to get it in. Should I do it or is this plaguerism?

This past weekend, the daughter of my fiancee fell very ill and has been hospitalized. When she is released from the hospital in about three days, we expect the bills to exceed $10,000.00. My fiancee has no medical insurance (she can't afford it), and doesn't make much money to begin with.

Are there any charitable organizations, or government agencies that she can go to for financial assistance? I fear the wieght of the medical debt will be crushing to her, and I can only help so much myself. We currently live in Chicago.

I work for someone who is a very influencial and upstanding leader in my country and, more particularly, the field I am currently pursuing. He is very close to the family and has played a tremendous role in many aspects of my life. He constantly provides assistance for which I am very grateful. I feel however, that I need to develop a personal sense of independence and want to discontinue working for him. Based on past events, I know that resigning from this job could lead to bitter relations that may affect my future career. I would like to begin working in another location---one in which he has no meaningful influence.

Your views and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you..
