The Cry of the Soldier

A slight wind touches
my tear streaked face
as I step out onto
the blood stained wasteland that
was once my home.
Death slithers through the bodies
feasting on the sorrow,
crawling up my body
and threatening to devour.
And I can look no longer,
stay no longer
live no longer.
Concieted are the killers,
ignorant of the lives taken,
familes torn apart.
They see death but do not feel it,
numb against the slicing sting
that can come from no blade.
I cannot have done it.
I cannot have taken innocent blood.
Men are happy to sacrifice, but why
is sacrifice happy?
Who can rest with a stranger's blood on their hands?
And I can look no longer
stay no longer,
live no longer....

pity

The wind blows across the frozen ground,
Blasting clean, nothing lost, nothing found.
The sadness I feel crushing my heart,
All I've left is pain, where do I start?

How many times can I look and see,
The waste of my youth, all I could be.
Twisted and broken, yet still I peek,
Life black as sin, redemption I seek.

I don't need you, or your sympathy,
Take a small look, that's all you will see.
I will take back my life from his grip,
His hold on me, has begun to slip.

Don't ever doubt the love and my care,
My San Juan angel, skin oh so fair.
She's the one, never doubted my love,
My ardor beyond probe, gift from above.

He stands and leans against the wall
His bitter tears they burn and fall
Into the green beneath his feet
Tis what he sowed and now he reaps

She searches deep within his eyes
But all she sees is a web of lies
He reaches out to hold her hand
And mercilessly she takes a stand

Can you finish this if you can and it's good you get the points.

From this weary vantage place
I take in the smoldering stage
One by one my ragged cast enter
Find their well worn marks and slur
Tormented lines conceived alone
Carved from desolation's stone
Hard and loose, covered in dust
Drawing the pain in the hearts of the lost.

Need an image for the second stanza, I want to play with the drama/stage idea. Any help would be good....

what do you think? Choose a title for me.

If the sun does not rise and the moon does not fall would the angles call?
Or would my soul soar with an awakeing trancending time and space or slumber in the absence of the human race?
Maybe the mark of man in the midst of time does his light shine to make the sun rise and the moon fall to be an awakening of transending time to those who look above and not fall behind.
To those who see and hear does the words written on this Earth inspire, teach, and give faith,
but it is man that gives man what God wants to give for his children through man'd will to give for god through each other, does he make his mark of faith.

I am not very religous but it has been God that inspired me. What do you think?

Intravenous Drug Abuse
The delicate strand of my vein
Is the highway to escape my pain.
The air gets stuck in my throat when I see red,
I hold my breath while the beast is fed.
When the syringe is emptied out,
The joy in my mind is what I’m talking about!
That sweet rush that warms your seat
Is something I could endlessly repeat!
I dream at night of my next blast,
Anticipating the future, savoring the past.
Every time the deed is done,
I patiently await the next one.
Sometimes I wait only hours, soon I fear waiting years
For my drug I shed real tears.
I know I will never quit
Part of who I am is getting lit.
I accept both sides of the deal,
I tremble when my dreams become real.
If I’m forced to feel it when it hurts,
I’m gonna relish it when the blood spurts.
I accept my addiction, my muse
I clarify, I confuse.
Just let your judgments lie,
For me the only good that exists is when I get high.

.... this was my first attempt at a Haiku after my daughter & I saw the rare Green-Flash phenomenon on a beach in North Devon UK a few weeks ago.

Watching on the shore;
Sun sinking into the sea;
We saw the Green-Flash.

Do you have any examples? (either your own or some others you've enjoyed.)

why is emptiness becoming more and more of a plight?
you can only feel her presence in the dark shadowy moonlight,
darkness gives her comfort and peace as shame she has nothing to hide,
her existence may not valid to you staring eyes,
she never feel insecured as a duck she may look like,
a cute pigeon she may be and will be as the time hike.

Somewhere Deep

somewhere deep inside me, i know that she's still there
the girl with bruised arms trapped in her own despair

as time goes by i marvel that once thats all i chose to be
my life and identity consumed by a drug that was killing me

the depth of my life now reflects how hollow I had become
peircing moments of pleasure fade and you become numb

my sobriety is but one gift I have to thank God for
my son, my boyfriend, my family and so much more

I've learned from my mistakes, and am paying my dues
so much is at stake, I have so much to lose

my past is a still part of me but only a part
now i'm a girl with a peaceful and loving heart.

I look at you today
You're going away
You won't be there tomorrow
I don't want you to go
I look you in the eye
And I'm trying not to cry
Are you going to fly away tonight
Don't go, hold tight
Night after night I watch you
You breathe in and out, but is it really you
Or is it a machine giving you life
The silence is killing me, it's like a knife
I miss your laugh, your smile
The nurse tells me to go, but I'm going to stay for a while
I need to tell you that I love you
But is the message getting through
Can you hear me
Can you feel me
I need to tell you that I'm sorry that I never got the chance to tell you when we were face to face
That you saved me and showed me grace
I want to hold you one more
Then the doctor comes through the door
He said you were running out of time
And that your last few moments were mine
I held your hand
I told you goodbye and
That I would see you again
I love you, my friend
You died that day
And away from me you'd stay

The Poetry Effect

The words in the lines
Weaving through to make a rhyme
Through the ever leaving time
We pass into the future

Emotions, words in poems
Your heart on your paper
Bringing together
The times of your life

The ink in your pen
Passes to the paper and the past
So we pass also, writer and reader
Moving forward through these lines

Writing words sharing life
The words pass to the reader
For a moment two beats are one
As we read their heart

Heartbeat on paper
Beating on and on
Through time and through others
Carry these words on our paper

Ode to a Mole

In that dark hole,
Mole was a miss
In that love/hate thang
Death was a kiss
Hang yourself Judas!
You pushbutton abuse us,
You take our fond wishes,
And simply get vicious.

A li'l roley poley
A sweet guaca-moley
She terrorized farmer
But no troll should harm her

Too bad that the misery
Should love that sad company
You blasted...you bled her
I n'er shall forget her.

Memories? I gottem,
When I see a fat bottom,
I cannot avenge thee
Butt, honor your memory
A hank of mole bone
And a hunk of blue hair
To me, just like Elvis,
You are everywhere.

RIP....Moley

Where?

I walked in the room and saw the casket displayed,

I went and I stood where the body was laid,

A shell in the coffin was all that was there,

The person it belonged to was gone, but to where?

A spiritual place only one can rest in the end,

Believing it’s real and true and not just pretend,

Looking inside yourself to see doubt and fear,

Knowing you have to go on with life year after year,

As time goes by you learn to live with the pain,

My grief will not control me because there is nothing to gain,

Mist on the moor
Shrouds the boatmen,
Have they come to loot or linger,
I point a finger, and wail the alarming call.

Men behind masks
Hide intentions,
As I listen, friend or foe unsignaled,
I raise my pistol, a fist full of lead is my answer.

Cease fire you oaf!
It’s the Lord Mayors boat!
I throw down my gun, and run for a mile,
All the while, knowing I cannot go home again.

its titled--'silent night' and written by a 15 year old

Dark and deep stretches the night,
Silentily stilled by the pale moonlight,
Broken moonbeams fall through the leaves,
And silent dreams each life weaves.

Trees stirred by a gentle breeze,
A bird's song shatters the peace.
Then quiet reigns once more,
Tranquility seeps in through an open door.

An endless blanket of the dark,
Covered by a million sparks,
A silent light is guiding the clouds,
Swept by the wind,as if clearing all doubts.

Wisps of smoke in the air,
Tended to,with loving care,
Carried away they are by a sudden gust,
A goodbye to familiarity,now a must

A landscape so silent, yet so serene,
And then the peaks on which the sky leans,
Are kissed by a rosy glow,
The clear dawn ,beautiful and slow.

It came upon the same time
In a distant neighborhood
Lived a man of honest rhyme
The man truly understood

Funny and thoughtful was he
Open to share emotion
Brave enough for poetry
The man of calm commotion

A happenstance connection
From a melody of tones
Entered my soul reflection
The man with dinosaur bones
