I am looking form critism for this poem so please critize away. helpful critism. If you think my poem sucks at least tell me why.

The Snail

Time drags by as I sit in the waiting room
I shift in the overstuffed couch
The ugly floral wallpaper
Has me cornered
I’ve seen snails on sleepy pills
Move faster than the clock’s fake gold hands
I give and inexcusably long sigh
And pick up a brochure about teeth whitening
One visit and your teeth will be like Hilary Duff’s

The snail begins to arouse
As I learning about the intricate process of bleaching
But by the third time reading
I think the snail has been shot by a tranquilizer gun

I lean back into the expensive looking furniture
Staring at the clock was a mistake
I think the snail is dying

One last heave
Both the snail are about to die
I of boredom
The snail of metaphorical table salt
The mahogany stained door opens
An overly cheery face calls my name
The snail marches on

A poem where the second and fourth lines ryhme? Is it very diffucult to write this type of poem? What makes a poem good and is writing poetry a talent that not many have or is it not really "creative and ingenious" the way i think?

Forgotten like socks
Underneath teenage beds my existence lied hidden from my eyes
In grade six
Until Caucasian lips
Forced poetry into lesson plans
Witch then forced my mix hands
To feed words onto blue lines
Giving me the freedom to regurgitate memories for a grade
Dried tears lied in the middle of note books and these note books became my own history books because in grade seven it became apparent that
Yellow skin does not have a section in social studies text books
Suicide thoughts came from pen points like thunder in a rain storm
I drew my scars with pried only to hide the pain I felt
Then I fell for a stuttering slam poet
Whose poetry never stuttered and if it did
Well poetry taught me how to look past that
Funny how our eyes only met between stanzas
Poetry helped our hands meet in every line brake
I carved memories of a beautiful mistress on lose leaf
Verbally drew salted water falls on scrap paper
And fought bipolar battles with ink

I have written my auto biography
Not up to now but up to last night

Missing you

If I can write a letter in the sky
I would…But without you is hard
My tears are slipping in my cheeks dry
Each tear, a painful new scar.

I miss you so much
Words cannot describe how
I need your presence, and your touch
I want you here, I want you now.

Solitude follows me like a shadow
Watching the stars falls
I can hear your heart, so mellow
I miss you, hear my calls.

Yawning shriveled parchment face with rotten eyes
Embalmed, leering, scaring away the nauseated flies
Disinterred and swinging on a rusting hook
Once the Pharaoh, now an anonymous crook
Your bombastic life filled with petty lies

Whip to the crack, flail to the slaves
Suffering under charlatan knaves
Knotted backs trembling, pocked with scars
Destinies written on the uncaring stars
Persecute the heathens from barbaric enclaves . . .

Going into dreamland
looking at the clouds
i notice a pretty angel
how wonderful it sounds

i thought they'd come on another day
but fait picked this moment
and this is what they say

"Hello pretty people we are here to stay
we've been sent from above
your time was called today
don't fear our presence
or our bright white cloaks
we are going to heaven now
we have to pass sky smoke"

so when youv'e pictured time
going into dreamland
looking at the clouds
do you notice your pretty angel
how wonderful that sounds. Renay Birkett age 24

What about you,
Makes my knees buckle,
My jaw jitter,
And my palms ice-cold?

Is it your blue eyes,
As deep as the night sky,
Piercing through each soul it stares?

Or maybe it’s your lips,
So soft and smooth,
As though it’s never kissed another pair?

Could it be your hair,
That neat mess of hazelnut,
Uncombed yet perfectly placed?

Possibly your physique,
Gracefully sculpted by angels,
Like a tease to the heart of the single?

Beauty, what a shallow reason to love.

I love you for none of the above.

Not for your muscles that carry me off the sofa,
Neither for your hair that mimics your movement,
Nor for your lips that smile at me every day,
Or for your eyes that look at me so patiently---

But…

For carrying me off the sofa, to our bed,
For ruffling your hair to make me laugh,
For smiling at me every single day,
For giving me all the patience in the world.
And for giving me your undying love,
I love you.

Tomorrow, my tomorrow
whatever will you bring?
A broken heart to cry o'er,
or perhaps a song to sing?
Will you hurt me
then desert me
and leave my soul to ache,
or will you love me lightly
and a lifetime for me make?
Tomorrow, my tomorrow
love me lightly please I plea,
for I have cried o'er all the yesterdays
that were ever meant to be.

~I Didn't Love You Enough~

O! I thought it was happiness,
To ditch the world, forget the mess,
And let the chips all fall where they may.

O! What I would give to block
For all my life, the vivid thoughts
Of all the foolish things I used to say.

All along, I must have known
That I was doing something wrong;
I should have told my heart not to bluff,
But I didn't love you enough.

O! The ways I masked the truth;
Pushed it aside, out of our view--
Held it down--unable to surface
Because I didn't love you enough.

But today I reveal all my deceit:
What you thought was Dog Chow, was really Friskies;
'Twas cheaper than all that Purina stuff--
Forgive me! I didn't love you enough!
My dog, Ruff.

A little poem I wrote a few months ago--I thought you might like to take a look at it, and smile!

Southern Sunrise
Color of lemon, mango, peach,
These storybook villas
Still dream behind
Shutters, thier balconies
Fine as hand-
Made lace, or a leaf-and-flower pen-sketch.
Tilting with the winds,
On arrowy stems,
Pineapple-barked,
A green crescent of palms
Sends up its forked
Firework of fronds.
A quartz-clear dawn
Inch by bright inch
Gilds all our Avenue,
And out of the blue drench
Of Angels' Bay
Rises the round red watermelon sun.
--> It was written in 1856.
I think it's just a romantisized depiction of the sunset. It makes everything seem delicate(?). Whereas in the North, everything was factories, the south still retained it's natural beauty according to the poet. I think it's another version of books depicting southern life as sophisticated, that came out around the civil war era.

gift

The dusts of Palestine
Swirl inside my mind.
Warping my judgment it seems,
Deep and dark, part of my dreams.

Never thought I would attack,
Push on me, and I'm gonna push back.
My limits are reached, I'm at my end,
You just a joke, I know I've sinned.

I'm just a man, whose found his true love,
One holy gift, from those up above.
Some of us lucky, others not so,
Gather your things, it's time to go.

I do try to cope, It's my only hope,
If you understand, you know it's no joke.
I'll guard with my life, all that is mine,
Mess with my wife, just a matter of time.

I need help paraphrasing it, line by line would be great.

"The Road Not Taken"
by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

My War.

The crimson tears,
The crystal blood,
The wasted years,
The wasted love.

A Purple Heart,
The scars that show,
For a brand new start,
You need to go.

The battle crys,
Of you and me.
The hardend eyes,
Cant seem to see.

It's over now.
No one won.
Sow your plow,
I'm finally done.

pity

The wind blows and howls onto my hallowed ground,
Blasting it all clean, no matter lost or even found.
The sadness I feel, crushing down on my heart,
All thats left is my sadness,God willing, a new start.

How many times can I look back and see,
The waste I called my youth, and all I could be.
Twisted and broken, yet still can't resist a peek,
My life black as sin, and yet I still seek.

I don't need your pity, or sympathy,
You take a small look, and that's all you see.
I will take back, my life from his evil grip,
All I need is time, an elixer to sip.

Don't ever doubt, the love I shower down,
On my gorgeous San Juan angel, never a frown.
She is the one, who never ever doubts my love,
My intentions beyond question, from God up above.

A Friend Like You, Who Needs Ememies?

You put me through hell,
How do you sleep so well,
Knowing what you put me through,
What did I ever do to you?

I always picked up your slack,
Yet you stab me in the back.
Do you know how hard it is to hate,
The person you thought was brought to you by fate?

I loved you with my whole heart.
You just tore me apart.
My best friend, my sister, my everything,
Now to me you mean nothing.

All I did was give and give,
Now without you I'm going to live.
Do you know how hard you are to please?!
With a friend like you, who needs ememies.

THE STOLEN ORANGE by BRIAN PATTEN
When i went out i stole an orange
I kept it in my pocket
It felt like a warm planet

Everywhere i went smelt of oranges
Whenever i got into an awkward situation
I`d take the orange out and smell it

And immediately on even dead branches i saw
Tha lovely and fierce orange blossom
That smells so much of joy

When i went out i stole an orange
It was a safeguard against imagining
there was nothing bright or special in the world

Stay with me, I'll set you free
Cause I can tell you once were pretty
Rose so sad you've lost your petals
Lost the luster off your tattle tales

I need a love to help me find my way
I need a strength that I cannot betray

What are we waiting for?
Time has lost its hold on me

Hatred sleeps inside my bones
In the stillness of cool air
All the boys have been left for dead
Cause we go where they fear to tread
The beautiful one's the one's we'll remember
The precious one's our greatest pretenders

I need a word to say what I can't say
I need a lover

And if you lose yourself
Could you take me, too?
Could you rest inside the sleep?

Stay with me, I'll set you free from you...
