As a fellow teacher, i often listen intently on what our younger generations have to say. It is interesting to note how passionate they are for change and how they so easily forgive those who do harm to them. As an adult i find change hard and forgiving extremely difficult. Though i feel that i have gained experience in life compared to my youthful self, I do wish that i could go back to find such mental ease and content to help me with issues that surround me today. For me, the children of today are extremly perceptive and intuitive, more wise than I.

Theodore Roosevelt said the above quote mentioned in the question. In fact, I have it printed on a t-shirt.

Do believe that if a man is educated solely in the mind and not in morals (difference between right and wrong) would be a menace to society?

We did things simply to better ourselves and help others. No need to work to earn a living but to simply enjoy it with the company of others, to have what we wanted, but with self limits and understandings temptation.

One time I was reading through the writings of a sixteen year old girl. She wrote on her theories and her beliefs. I was impressed by the way she viewed the world for someone her age. When I was reading through some of the other peoples comments, I noticed a few people, my age, were contradicting her ideas. It seemed as though they viewed the world as stressful and difficult. Her reply to them is that she thought it was sad that they see their lives like that. One of their comments, in reply, was that once she gets older she would see that the world is more like their view and less like hers. When I asked her about that comment she explained that some people don't see their lives as a gift rather they choose to see their lives as a burden. I explained to her my theory on perceiving the world. I believe that what makes the young so beautiful is that they can see the world with a fresh open mind. When people get older they lose that outlook in life. One key on being young is t

Something that really brings you up. That you think about when you are depressed or down and out. That you really agree with or make you feel happy. Something that you feel you could pass on to someone else as advice. That you feel you almost live your life by, or would like to.

I said that to a friend and he disagreed. Now I'm wondering what you think of it.

My opinion is that you always have a choice no matter how desperate or hopeless the situation feels, in the most extreme that choice will be to fight for your life in any way possible or die. (With fight I don't necessarily mean physically fighting, there are other ways of resistance.) I think that giving up hope or keeping it is also a choice that you make.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Why is everyone living when there is no point on Earth in any way? It doesn't matter how much you do, when you do it, or whatever, you're likely going to die. Nothing matters anymore, everybody will be forgotten, especially their deeds. I don't see why life has a point or not.
