Something that really brings you up. That you think about when you are depressed or down and out. That you really agree with or make you feel happy. Something that you feel you could pass on to someone else as advice. That you feel you almost live your life by, or would like to.

I have two: 1. by Will Rogers during the 1924 Presidential election when he was asked what he thought about all the pomp replied: 'Suppose you were a politician; and suppose you were an idiot; but I repeat myself'.
2. By Henry David Thoreau who once said about the planet earth: ' There is more in the earth than the minds of men can conceive '.

Oh.

I was going to share cynical quotes, but you want something uplifting -- not so much my thing.

But here are two:

Try to be kind.
(This was a Tibetan Buddhist who had been asked to sum up Buddhist thought.)

Always be yourself, unless you really suck.
(Attributed to Joss Whedon, the creator of, among other things, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.) It's my current favorite.

But the maxim closest to my heart is my own (well, I got the first half from Dr. Seuss).

Fun is good; suffering sucks.

individually, i'm a huge fan of Thessalonians 2, verse 12 -- that is not anti-gay or something like that, yet talks approximately condemning human beings, so that is cool. This states that those that have self assurance lies are going to Hell. So... the checklist of those going to Hell happens to incorporate the those that informed me to study the Bible in the 1st place. candy, candy irony...

Bible passage. "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." -Hebrews 4:12

"Come as You Are"

So simple yet means so much. Be happy with yourself. Love yourself. I try to live my life by this saying because there are so many things that take us away from being our truest self. Bruce Lee once said that one of the hardest things to do is to express oneself in its truest form.

instead of trying to fit in, why not just live the way you want without the worries of what people might say? sounds easy, but sometimes so hard to do.

[[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]] The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

Psa 19:2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

Psa 19:3 [There is] no speech nor language, [where] their voice is not heard.

Psa 19:4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

Psa 19:5 Which [is] as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, [and] rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

Psa 19:6 His going forth [is] from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

Psa 19:7 The law of the LORD [is] perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD [is] sure, making wise the simple.

Psa 19:8 The statutes of the LORD [are] right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD [is] pure, enlightening the eyes.

Psa 19:9 The fear of the LORD [is] clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD [are] true [and] righteous altogether.

Psa 19:10 More to be desired [are they] than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Psa 19:11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: [and] in keeping of them [there is] great reward.

Psa 19:12 Who can understand [his] errors? cleanse thou me from secret [faults].

Psa 19:13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous [sins]; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

Psa 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

This is my favorite...I believe it to be one of secrets of all of life.
That the words of our mouth is the power of all creation.

Not exactly a "bring me up" statement, but a good one, especially for people who are full of themselves over some accomplishment....... kind of humbling

"Never forget that life can only be nobly inspired and rightly lived if you can take it bravely an gallantly, as a splendid adventure in which you are setting out into an unknown country, to face many a danger, to meet many a joy, to find many a comrade, to win and lose many a battle." - Annie Besant
