Why does everyone seem to think suicide is such a bad thing? I think it's neither here nor there.

I really want to be a doctor, but I'm not very smart like some ppl, so I'm afraid my intelligence might stop me from pursuing this profession...

I wonder..which one is more important to being a doc..intelligence or love of mankind (humanity)?

Are our senses real? That is if we are not being decieved by a higher power, if that exists. Is love real? What's real? Why is life worth living?

And he said to himself
in a sunken morning moon
between two pines
between lost gold and lingering green:

I believe I will count up my worlds
There seem to me to be three
There is a world I came from, which is Number One
There is a world I am in now, which is Number Two
There is a world I go to next, which is Number Three

There was the seed pouch, the place I lay dark in, nursed and shaped in a warm, red, wet cuddling place.

There is the place I am in now, where I look back and look ahead, and dream in wonder.

There is the next place-
And he took a look out the window
at a sunken morning moon
between two pines,
between lost gold and lingering green

Will you stop in life? Just stop and live? Don't worry about how much money you have or do not have. Enjoy life. Will you spend time with your children and animals? Will you just stop? Will you?

In the mind of the modern world, which acts as a force of nature, there is no difference between War and Peace. Peace can be just as marketable as War and War could be just as unmarketable as Peace. The only difference in the mind of the modern world is that Peace has not followed in Wars footsteps.

The last six years I have worked on a project that involves creating tools that inspire and move people in a positive light. If produced on a large scale -
1. it would move and inspire people towards peace.
2. more powerful tools will be inspired.

The great "military-industrial complex" would turn inwards and feed on itself till it is no more and weapons of mass peace would become our children's future.

I am ex-military, and I was trained in one of the most elite fields in the world, a field that made the "weapons of mass destruction" possible. All modern advances stem and exist from what I was trained do - the modern world would not exist without it. It can be used for peace too...

Like in Dante's Inferno- hell for Demons is that they can see into the future till there is no longer a future and they go blind- but they can't see the present or the past.

What if we're like this. We start our lives at death and see our entire lives, but as we move through time, we get younger until we see nothing at all. So really, I didn't remember yester day, I just simply forgot tomorrow.

Are large groups of people capable of being "made to think a certain way"?

Or do large groups of people who think a certain way simply elect a front man?

Was the BIG BANG just an accsedent or is there a bigger meaning and reason?
Are we here from god, or scientific reasons.
Do u beleve in destiny? and god? Who controls it?
Is everything your doing now preset?
Is life just your imagination waiting to be unlocked?
Are we real?
Who are we in the big picture of things?

Last semester I took my first Philosophy class. We studied Plato's dialogues on Socrates for a big portion of the class. I plan on taking some more philosophy classes next semester so I am reviewing what I studied last semester to prepair. I'm new to philosophy and am still trying to figure things out.

In the Euthyphro i'm trying to figure out the elenctic method. Do you think it is a useful method or problematic?
Personally I think it's a good tool to use, but I can't figure out WHY I think this. It can cause some problems. How does socrates use the 'elenchus' to refute the definitions of piety that Euthyphro gives?

Do you have any other good points about the Euthyphro? Any other discussions?
