if everyone dropped what they were doing and held hands, wouldnt that be nice. i mean everyone for 5 minutes. we might have world peace then.

They tried it in the 80s. It was, if I remember correctly, a bit of a disaster. there were huge gaps with nobody.
Our population isn't evenly dispersed. there are places in the West where it's only like 10 people per mile density.

Great idea, but Monc sees the logistics problem. There are too many empty states. I don't know if trying to get the Canadian prairie provinces to join in would be able to fill the gaps because they are pretty spread out for population as well although it does cluster along the US border.

i think a "hands across america" is a great idea,,,,,,,, the world would be a little difficult, what with the oceans etc,,,,,,
i think if it was planned in advance,,,, with perhaps a web site made,,,,,, and the word gotten out,,,,, then it might be more successful,,,, what i would do, rather the straight across, would be go down the east coast,,,, across the bottom,,,,,, then up the west cost,,,,,, that way you would be going threw more densely populated areas,,,,,,, so basically take the long way

Anyone that attempts such a thing has to be nuts; do you realize how many germs and diseases would be spread across the country. Also like some of the other answers there would be too many gaps.

giving a hand philosophy is as long as people walked the earth when first settlers came here the the local people gave them a hand to come ashore but what did they face only the gun or the sword of their invader and from 20 million people they were we destroy them to a couple thousand we took their lands in the name of Jesus now we want to be called Christians and do gooters is never too late to give a hand but do we really mean it good luck..
