Here is a pic of my guitar. http://www.harmony-central.com/Newp/2002/S-1-Hotrod-purple-large.jpg As I said, I've never played before and I can't read music notes. Is this a good guitar for beginner? What advice could you give to someone who wants to play heavy metal and just starting? Thanks

OK, this is so random and stupid, but it's so early and I'm so bored that I just decided to ask this anyway: For anyway who has seen "RENT" or listened to the OBC recording, I noticed that in "Today 4 U", Angel sings "Like Thelma and Louise did when they got the blues." My question is, "THelma & Louise" is a movie that came out in 1991. "RENT" takes place in 1989. How the hell would ANgel have known about Thelma and Louise? Just curious.

I have been writing music for years. I have been told that my music is pretty good and everyone likes to listen to it. Trouble is I hardly ever perform it because I'm not that type of person. I'm not into performing or being on stage but like the fact people like my music. I would like to sell my music to record companies for their artists to use. Is this possible?

How to reduce the squeaking sound to make the violin sound better? Does applying too much rosin cause this? I watched plenty of homemade violin videos on youtube, they all have the "ga ga ga" sound. (Yes, I do realize not enough practice or a cheaply made violin may also be the cause, but please do not note them in the answer.)

I did marching freshman year, and I'm tired of it. I mean I have to get up for practice at 5:30 am. Every friday night we have to go and march at the football games. My parents are forcing me to stay since I'm not joined in any other clubs and they paid 1,800 dollars for my flute. How to convince them to let me quit?

I'm 19. Is it too late for me to learn guitar and acquire any skill? I took it for a while when I was 14, but then couldn't continue lessons. I write songs and I want to be able to write music for them.

I'm interested in learning how to play the guitar, but I want to be sure of what I want before I go out and try to find a guitar teacher. What different styles are out there, which would be more desirable to learn, and where would you suggest finding a teacher? Any other helpful tips would be appreciated :)

I have tried to learn by myself in the past, but I found it too hard to keep myself motivated >_>

I don't know why, but lately, I really want to play the flute. Is it hard to learn and play? And do you know any facts that might convince my parents to let me get one? I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

The guitar: http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0969901006

I have been playing since the end of december using a guitar made by a company "swift". I feel like I've outgrown it and after some advice from guitarists on yahoo decided to order myself the guitar in the url above.

I would just like your opinions, because you were once a beginner and I am sure you can remember the experience of learning to play and changing guitars etc.

Also theres another thing that I want to know is why after the top dot on my old guitar there are 2 frets but on the new one as you can see there are 4 frets.

Thanks in advance..

Looking for a site that show or has instructions on restringing a guitar. The guitar is electric. I can't get my guitar in tune, not sure if I was using bad strings or not stringing them right. Now I new set of better quality strings, but dont want to take any chances.

Anyone else out there? Just looking to chat with some folks. I only work at one RenFaire a year right now, but I do some other kinds of Faires. What Faires do you do, and what are your charaters like?

I'm in an advanced choir next year, and we have to pick out and but our own outfits. The girls have sort of decided on a dress (it's not official because only 7 girls were at our first dress meeting), but there are some arguments over it. It doesn't have sleeves and we'd have to wear the matching shrug with it should we choose the dress (our committee leader said something about Mormon girls not wearing sleeveless dresses). The problem is that most of us who were at the meeting don't want to wear a long-sleeved shrug because it gets really hot on stage, and it wouldn't be too ideal for traveling (we do a lot of traveling opn buses and stuff around the community). The dress we've sort of picked out is the Arietta Dress and the crepe shrug at Southeastern Performance Apparel. If anyone could find a few other appropriate dresses, it would be really helpful; the dress has to be full-length, preferrably a little bit of sleeve over the shoulder, and we've decided on black.
