Okay, so I'm getting a new violin and I have two at home that I've been trying out. Violin 1 has a really clean tone with no squeaks or surface sound or buzzing or barking noises, but it doesn't project very well and doesn't have as loud of a sound as the other one does. It also can sound nasally.

Violin 2 has a very nice, warm, complex tone. It projects very well and is loud, but its tone isn't very clean. If I play heavy accents on the G string it makes a strange barking sort of noise for a second. It also has some surface sound and fuzziness.

I like Violin 2's sound better, I think violin 1 sounds muted and not very nice and I generally like violin 2 more overall. but I'm worried about violin 2's imperfections (barking, surface sound, stuff listed above) and wondering if they will hinder me as I move on up the scale of difficult repitore. Are any of violin 2's imperfections big concerns or can they be fixed with a sound post adjustment? Which one should I go with?

What is the name of the thing that you put on the guitar frets so when you play an open string, it actually plays the fret you put this band on. for example, if you put this band on the first fret of every string, if you play the 1st string, it will play the first fret. Please help.

Question-
What's the best type of guitar, like brand or design, or make of guitar to buy for a beginner? ? ? ?

I want to play Acoustic and Electric

I'm taking private lessons.
I like rock music, and want to learn to play electric.
I have a Starcaster by Fender Acoustic guitar. I heard its a good learning guitar and that's why I bought it, but I want the best.

So if you have any suggestions, or anything I need to know as a beginner please let me know.

Ok, I'm sorry if this offends anyone. I believe Criss Angel is a very talented magician and all but it seems as if he's doing witchcraft and the devil's work. You know how he levitates and levitates other people and such? But HOW can he be doing witchcraft when he's always wearing a crucifix around his neck. Because you know how the Devil is very frightened of God. Help??? : /

I want to continue playing music in college, but I'm afraid I might not be good enough to be a part of a college group. For example, I have pretty good intonation when I play, but I have a lot of trouble tuning my instrument. Is it worth it to continue?

About 2 years ago, I started playing the guitar again, and found a lot of good online resources. Somewhere along my browsing, I came across a jazz player who was selling handmade guitar flatpicks-- they were plastic (horn-like) but melted to fit better in the hand. I remember thinking it was pricy, but bought one anyway, and loved it.

Unfortunately, I've lost the pick, and have no idea where I got it from.

Does this ring any bells with anyone?

I've been playing guitar off and on for eight years. I like to think of myself as somewhere in the intermediate stages in terms of ability. However, for whatever reason, I simply cannot figure out pinch harmonics. I've gone everywhere online, looked at videos, read literature, gotten a little one on one time with my professional guitarist uncle, but nothing. Granted, I haven't really started trying as consistently as the last few weeks, but I'm wondering if there's something wrong with me.

So, to the questions: Has anybody else had as much trouble with this? What have you done to combat the problem? Are there any little tricks I can use to build this skill? Thanks!

Yes, I've tried the sites. I've tried the sites so much my eyes hurt. Half of them were spoke in "ghetto" a language which i unfortunaltly do not understand and the other half were chock full of "goddams" and "bitches" and "asses" and "hos" among other ummm how do you say SEXUAL themes and "vulgar" as my mom would put it, or "crude" as my dad would, language. so if you could please WIRITE DOWN not a site, but the actual monologue, i would thank you SO MUCH! *blows kisses*

thanks

I want to start playing guitar again. I played a little bit during high school, but not enough to really get anywhere besides just messing around with friends. I started up again and now can play some bar chords and stuff. What are some good books for learning the keys and the different names of chords you are playing on the guitar?

I lost mine, and I have no idea what it's called. I'm on house arrest so I have to have my mother go pick one up for me and she doesn't know what they look like. Also, from experience, what's your favorite metal distortion pedal?

Do you play an instrument? Have you ever found that your instrument, and the instruments of others seem to match their inner personality? If you aggree, tell me what personalities you think go with the following instruments:

flute
clarinet
saxophone (alto, tenor, bari)
oboe
bassoon
trumpet
trombone
baritone
tuba
percussion
guitar
piano
violin

You don't have to answer them all, but give as many as you can. I'd love to know your thoughts.
