I lost mine, and I have no idea what it's called. I'm on house arrest so I have to have my mother go pick one up for me and she doesn't know what they look like. Also, from experience, what's your favorite metal distortion pedal?

What you seek is not called a patch cord.
These are patch cords, and they are not what you want.

Its called a guitar cable or 1/4" to 1/4" patch cord. It comes in various lengths so make sure you tell her how long you need. As far as distortion goes there are a few decent ones out there. Boss makes a decent one called the DS-1

It is a 1/4" patch cord (not chord) either having two straight-end jacks or one with a hook to fit certain electric guitars best.

If the patch cord connects to the top of your electric guitar then select a cord having two straight-end jacks. If the patch cord connects to the bottom side, then select the L-shaped patch cord.

I don't use any type of distortion pedals for my amplifier unless it is simply an enhanced echo. I feel no need to enhance my playing by using foot switches.

I had to read this twice, I though you were talking about a chord for guitar playing duh !!! I think your talking about the cable that plugs into your guitar from the amp, correct ? It's called a patch cord.
