I want to start playing guitar again. I played a little bit during high school, but not enough to really get anywhere besides just messing around with friends. I started up again and now can play some bar chords and stuff. What are some good books for learning the keys and the different names of chords you are playing on the guitar?

Books are easier for quick reference. Try "The Complete Guitar Handbook " from Flame Tree Publishing. Gives u chords & a whole lot more. Hope this helps.

First step is to learn guitar, you're probably looking at complicated lessons. Learn how to play something easy, even if its not your genre. I recommend a guitar teacher called marty schwartz. Learn how to play smoke on the water, then learn to play simple chords, like A, D or E. if you still cant play after trying for ages, then guitar lessons are the only option im afraid, even with money problems. Also, if your music teacher tuned it for you, its tuned. If your dad knew how to tune a guitar he could teach you himself. Get a chromatic tuner from the apple app store or something. Believe me, my dad thought my guitar wasn't tuned even when i knew for a fact it was.
