Beat boxing is awesome. I sing in several a cappella groups and beat boxing and vocal percussion is very important to the genre. Basic beat boxing isn't that difficult to learn. There are many websites available that teach you what sounds to make with your mouth that mimic different percussion sounds. Check out instructional sites online and see what works for you.

I'd recommend Wes Carroll's www.mouthdrumming.com. He's the vocal percussionist for a professional a cappella group called the House Jacks. I've met him and he's really cool and REALLY good.

If you'd like a good web demonstration of good beat boxing and vocal percussion, try the website www.kidbeyond.com. He's one of the best vocal percussionists in the United States and does really cool things with live looping.

In case you are wondering, the difference between vocal percussion and beatboxing is that vocal percussion focuses more on the percussive sounds made by drum strikes, while beat boxing focuses more on the electronic sounds produced, like scratches.

Keep it up! Beatboxing is cool!
