I did marching freshman year, and I'm tired of it. I mean I have to get up for practice at 5:30 am. Every friday night we have to go and march at the football games. My parents are forcing me to stay since I'm not joined in any other clubs and they paid 1,800 dollars for my flute. How to convince them to let me quit?

I would suggest looking into other clubs or activities (sports, etc.), and find one you are more interested in. Explain to your parents that you are more interested in your new activity, and would rather concentrate on that. Offer to help them sell the flute.
Just a tip, when I was in high school I battled the same thing. I eventually dropped out of marching band, but stayed in concert band (hey, it was an easy class!). The experience really helped me in music, I kept using my instrument, and my parents weren't angry. I later traded my clarinet in for an electric guitar, which I'm still more interested in. Good luck to you! Your parents should understand!

Marching band is the BEST thing that has happened to me! Not only have I made tons of friends, but I have become a much much better instrumentalist. Keep in mind though there's a lot of work put into being in band proper. Depending on how good you are, you may need to practice your marching in your free time to become better. (Trust me, I'm horrible at slides (marching sideways)) You have to set time aside to memorize music and drill. You have to give up Friday nights and some Saturdays (depending if your band competes) But in the end, getting first place somewhere, or even just listening to the crowd cheer after you perform is the BEST feeling in the world! And you will get sooo much out of being in the marching band.

If its the flute thats the issue, join regular band instead of marching band, or sell the flute. You could get a reasonable price on it most likely.

Make a trade, like take normal band at school instead, or tell them that you might consider taking private lessons, or the most extreme that you probably don't want to do is tell them that you want to sell it.

I would go with considering taking private lessons because then you really don't have to make any promises

I think you should keep doing it and hang out with people who don't smoke and do drugs and have crazy sex parties. But if you want to quit the band and you will still be a good student and a good person, then your parents shouldn't stop you from getting out.

Honor your commitment, finish what you started! Explain to your parents that you don't want to be a part of the school band, you want to be part of-------? Go to them with an alternative.

Sell the flute on E-Bay and you will get back most of the money.
