If you go to my profile, you can see that I have been writing aload of dribble and a few have suggested that I get it published, how do you go about that? I know about sending it to a publisher, who, what, when and how?

I've read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix several times and I just re-read the part about the prophecy. The part that has always confused me is where it says "Neither can live while the other survives..."
So Harry was saying that that means that one has to kill the other, right? Ok, I get that. But does that also mean that if the other person is dead, that you die as well? "Neither (Harry or Voldemort) can live while the other survives."
So if someone could help me with this, it would be much appreciated. Thanks. =)

I am 19 and a junior in college. I am an English major so I read a lot and my reading level is mature. I want to find some books that take on the subject of young adult life and struggle. I like reading older books but I am ready to tackle recent ones. I really enjoy different types of writing; like sparse or pessimistic works. Plus, I need something to pass the time til HP comes out. Late at night I hear a soft voice. I close my eyes and listen to the lyrics...
Sing me a lullaby, sing me to sleep. Make me want to dream, I don't wanna be like them. I wanna be special. So just sing me a lullaby, I really wanna dream. I just wanna be me.
She sings to only the lonely darkness, but I feel that she thinks of it as more. Her words encircle me, call to me. I wonder if she's singing to someone or just the air. Every night her child-like voice seems to set me toward dreamland.
Sometimes I feel as though she is singing to someone lost among thousands. The sadness she puts in these songs tell a story of her hopes and wishes. Sometimes even her tears.
Her songs seem to guide someone to her, someone she has yet to meet. Her songs seem to make me feel hopeful again. Almost...alive again.
She sings a tune so lonely, yet so lovely, that it makes me shed a tear. Such beautiful lyrics and such a beautiful voice. I guess we all need something to make us feel wonderful and I guess this is just one of those things.
As long as her beautiful voice continues to sing such unexplainable lyric, I will continue to forever be bewildered by why. Funny thing, I do not want to find the girl who sings for I fear she might stop.
That is something that I would dread most horribly. I feel now that I need her to sing, I feel addicted to her voice. I would die without it. Yes, I would just die without it. By now I'm sure you fancy me mad. Crazy, if you will. But I'm not mad or crazy. Just in a trance by that beautiful voice..


The softness of her voice leads me. I don't know where I am. There are greens, reds, yellows, purple, and blues surronding me. Terror strikes me, then solitude. I could listen to her voice forever.

Listen to my crying heart, listen to the tears, in my mind I hear. Drip, Drop, Drip, Drop, Drip...

I smile and lie among the shadows of this spinning room. Forever I could listen. She is an unwanted sould, a soul filled with crushed hopes and dreams. I never want to leave. Maybe my obsession with her has grown or maybe I was just this was crazy from the begininng. I don't have a clue how crazy I really am. Maybe I just don't care. Yes, I just don't care. I have her now. All to myself. Mine. Mine. Mine. Wait. Where am I? No more colors...just white and black. Things are changing with her song. This time I suppose I'll just explore the place. Yes, I'll just exlore as I listen to the soft, beautiful voice...

I just saw the story on Yahoo and am curious about mine.
It is first edition, but i no longer have the book sleeve.(I got the book when i was like 12 or something A.K.A. i was stupid).
Also because i did not have the book sleeve, the cover got kind of beat up.
Most of the pages are fine, and surprisingly no rabbit ears.

it reads:

"11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 9/9 0/0 01 02
Printed in the U.S.A. 37
First American edition, October 1998"

Also on the spine it does not say "year one" on it.
red spine, purple the rest.

In book 5 when Dumbledore's Army enters the Hog's Head there is a description of the bartender that appears to resemble Dumbledore. It says the bartender had a long gray beard was tall and skinny etc. Everyone is saying that the bartender is Dumbledore's brother, but what if they are both the same person? (spoiler warning from the movie The Prestige) It's like in The prestige when there are two of the same magician, and they take turns being each other. Maybe there were two Dumbledores taking turns being each other also. This could be a way that Dumbledore can live on and escape death.

Since it;s the last book shouldn't you get to the bookstore like 3 hours early? I dont know what time I should go to the store to wait in line, but there's probably going to be at least 1000 fans waiting in line.

Here's the thing. I love writing. Anything, poetry, short stories, songs, whatever. My next goal is to write a novel, but I have the worst problem possible, I dont know what to write about. I dont know if I should write a murder mystery, or a girly book, but I swear not to write like anything gossipgirlesh. I love stuff about vampires, werewolves, and other superhuman things. But i want to write something new, something that doesnt resemble any book on the shelves at Borders. So, I ask, WHAT SHOULD I WRITE ABOUT?

I am a nurse of 16 years and have primarily worked with the elderly that entire time. I'll try to keep this brief. I would like to write a book - something I have wanted to do for quite some time.

I want to interview the people I have met and take care of that have been married 50+ years. They have told me their stories before and I have been amazed at their relationships - they have an unique insight into what makes relationships work. Their relationships have been tried and tested and they have come through it all with an incredible love.

Would anyone be interested in reading a book about specific relationships of 50+ years...how they met, trials, triumphs, advice, regrets, etc...????

I also want their stories to live on as soon they won't be with us anymore and their lives we can learn from.

I have heard stories that have made me cry. I have witnessed love that made me cry.

All I have heard and seen has caused me to set the bar high for myself and not settle

Is it possible to have a job(whatever it is) and write at home and try to publish them on the side.
I guess what i'm asking is "would it be hard to do both at the same time?" i'm looking into psychology and writing but i've hear writing doens't make a lot of money and takes a while to get out there and be succesful. so would having a career in psycholory( or anything) and writing books at the same time be possible and successful?

by the way I like to write fiction mystery novels. Mystery is my favorite genre i highly look up to Lilian Jackson Bruan(author of "The Cat Who" series. and Agatha Christie.
I might start off with children mystery books such as Nancy Drew. any info plz
