I am a volunteer shelver, and at our library Bibles are housed after UFO stories and handwriting analysis, and before books on philosophy and mythology, in the non fiction section. Books in this section are filed both by number and author. Of course, someone's myths or fairy tales will always be another's complete and unquestioned reality.

As others have said, it goes in the non-fiction section, generally with other religious books.

Keep in mind that a book doesn't have to be true or accurate to be classed as non-fiction. Putting a book in the non-fiction section doesn't mean that the library is officially endorsing the text or anything. It basically just means they don't think the book was meant to be a novel.

It's in the nonfiction section. The number 220 in the Dewey decimal system is reserved specifically for the Bible.

in my library, i don't know if they have a bible; however, i have seen a section where there are books about christianity, books about the bible (explaining the stories in the bible), books on muslim and islam placed in one section
so i guess they might put it in the religion section

Its place is reserved in a special department called "Religion." Surprised?

good question. i would assume it goes in the Religion sction, so they don't have to decide that and get a big rebellion from either side of the religious world.

i would think they'd put it in the religious section or something.. that way there's no big uproar from both sides.
