At first, I was enjoying the new direction J.K. Rowling was going in Book 4 of the Harry Potter series. She changed from a plot-driven text to a psychological narrative, and I was intrigued. But the last few chapters of the book are truly terrible. I was angered that a character I liked, Professor Moody, doesn't even exist; he's merely an unconscious old man in a trunk. And the fact that Barty Crouch has the same name as his dad was just stupid. I hate it when authors spring things on me -- at those points, I stop caring about the story. Finally, Voldemort is a horribly boring nemesis for Harry. He talked FOREVER, pages upon pages. He revealed an entire plot the reader knew very little about a la Scooby Doo.
What do you think about the Goblet of Fire?
