This question could have several types of answers. The best book to read is one that a person keeps to start or add to a personal library. Then the book can be reread on another occasion because as we age and change, what we once read will be a pleasure to read again. Start at your local Public Library. The Librarian will be able to get you started.
Since you love adventures, try Mutiny on the Bounty by Charles Nordhoff or the one volume book which contains all 3 books, The Bounty Trilogy, by the same author.

The Count of Monte Cristo is the best adventure book. Don't be turned off because of it's length or was written long ago. It's a real page turner and you will finish it before you know. Books become classics for a reason.

Personally, I loved "The Truth About Diamonds" by Nicole Richie. It's sort of drama-ish, but the plot is moving and the characters are very well drawn.

ur question has two angles of thinking..the best book to read is the one which engrosses u into deep interest..it could be any book..i prefer news paper..else if u r a creative person full of imagination then go 4 novels like..godfather,angels and deamons,etc

If you've never read "Uncle Tom's Cabin," it is one of the best books to read. But there are so many that are good...
