Do you ever read books outside of required class books? i'm just wondering because i know me and my best friend have always read and read and read nomatter what.. im a highschool sophomore and am nerdy enough to keep count and i've gotten to where i barely read much anymore.. last year i read 35 books and thought to myself "whats happening to me?" because thats soo few for a whole year.. and classmates caught wind of this and said "you read 35 books.. in one year?" and upon inquiry i learned nothing i didn't already know, but is still alarming, that most of them have prolly read maybe that many books in their lives...

is it really uncommon to read for pleasure anymore? I admit i read childrens books that offer no difficulty but i still read them because i enjoy them!... yes.. i still have every intention of reading every Nancy Drew book ever published... i know im a dork.. but whatever! im still appalled that me and my friend are the only people we know who ever read for fun!!

My character is a mean, cold-hearted person that does not believe in mercy or helping the poor people inhabiting his land.

His birth name is Cleman Reynard, meaning merciful, pure, love, honest, incorrupt.

Cleman comes from a family that believes everything that he does not. He despises his family and the family's sympathy for the poor and later kills his father and changes his name.

He will later on in my story change his name into Dralco (from Draco, a star constellation that LOOKS like a dragon but is really a snake-he betrays a couple friends) Dralco is a sadist and later becomes known as a notorious masked killer.

So throughout the story which should I refer to him as. I get confused in the beginning, because the readers do not know that you will change his name or anything. But when he does, I don't want to call Dralco as Cleman either.

My number one enemy is Sparknotes.com... i think the idea of a quick and easy way for students to slack off their word is sickening. And this is comming from the views of a 16 year old girl... I, personally, fear the day that some of these people around me start making decisions that impact other peoples lives... I had a highschool senior as me to explain 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' to her... and they were assigned to read the easy, modifyed version... and she was an Honor student!!! I read the original version a few weeks before start of my freshmen year and understood it.. im not saying im smart or anything, cuz my grades reflect that im not, but im saying that its sad that a highschool senior on Honor level classes is lazier than a 14 year old girl!!!

I know plenty of CP students that, instead of reading the assigned books, go on the internet and get the summary of the book and still pass with as good a grade as the students who read the assigned books and then some!

Back in middle school, at the beginning of each year we took a placement test which descided your reading level. Then you were set a certain number of books to read from within your reading range and you had to take tests on them to get a certain number of points.. it was stupid.. but i always had a high placement to the point that my level and required number exceded the number of books within the range in the entire library and my teachers had to bring me books from the highschool library and sometimes lower my range..

Im not boasting this... cuz it just proves im a nerd.. im explaing this because now im reading a book thats soo difficult that its like french and latin.. i can get the basic idea of what french and latin texts are saying.. but verbatum i can't tell you what it says... if i hadn't read the script and saw the movie 'Pride and Prejudice'... i couldn't tell you what the crap is going on except for the basic jist of the chapter!!!

so i wanna know what its level is!!

Has anyone read the Book of Questions? If someone was to write questions from that book onto this site would it be considered plagerism? Some of the questions are very interesting and could be answered differently according to one's circumstances. It alot of fun when you go on long drives and have the book with you and answer some of the questions.

I am beginning to think I have lost my mind. There was a book I read when I was a child...it was called "Monkey Town, Pig City". I almost positive that was the title. The main character was a little girl with very long hair. Her parents had told her when she was very little that if she never told a lie, they would never cut her hair. The premise of the story is that she has a club, called Monkey Town, but due to the lies of a jealous classmate...a rival club is formed called, Pig City. The story continues with their antics towards each other. It is quite funny at times...but the heart of the story is quite serious. It meant a lot to me as a child. It was the first time I truly realised how cruel children can be, and how words and deeds that may seem so insignifigant to one person can be devastating to another. It taught me a sensitivity to the people around me. I have children now and would love to share it with them. But I can't seem to find it anywhere. Does it sound familiar to you?

A fire is ignited
Inside this heart
it gives no love
This pain, it starts
Inside my head
It makes me forget
The meaning of my life
I want out of it
Will my true self come back?
Will I stay locked up?
Fearfully living in this world
becoming corrupt
My mind is gone
Control is no longer mine
My life is pointless
I live on a thin line
God please get me out
Of the trap that I'm in
I put myself in there
Now my life is a sin
Help me to find it
the life that I lost
Get me out of here
Please God, at any cost!
God, I love you with all I am
but my life is just wasting
What now must I do?
with this pain I am facing
From happiness to pain
I am daily tossed
God get me out
For I am truly lost!
God I need you so much
I'm confused,lost, and sad
don't know where to go
I need you so bad
My life for you seems like nothing
I can't bear to live anymore
If I can't live for God
What am I living for?
This temptation's force
is so very strong
I must refuse to take it
