I write shrot stories, poems, and I have a few novels in the making. I have contacted some publishers they said they like my stories and poems but, they dont deal with fictional stories or any type of poetry. Does anybody know of any publishing company that would be good to try? If anyone can help me in anyway I would very much appriciate it.

Please help. I used to read a series of mystery books when i was in elementary school, approximately 1979-1981. They were about a gang of kids that solved mysteries. It wasn't Encyclopdia Brown or Boxcar Children. I seem to remember the main character being a boy with red hair and maybe glasses. Seems like his last name was Mc something. If this rings a bell, please let me know. Thanks for your time and help.

How many popular authors have college degrees? Does it benefit a writer to have a BA or an MFA more than not?

I can't remember the name. I think it had "Mountain" in it. All I remember about the book was that this girl was visiting her father (I believe). And he had a new girlfriend (I think). And she was in an avalanche and the only way she could climb her way out was to spit and see which way was up or down. That's all I can remember. Sorry for lack of info.

In the Harry Potter books, you can talk to the pictures and they are kinda...alive. But Harry is so upset when Sirius and Dumbldore died about never speaking to them again, but there is bound to be a portrait of Dumbldore in his office somewhere to talk to. And I guess my question is if someone drew a portrait of Sirius, could Harry speak to him and why is it so tragic to loose someone if you can talk to them again? Gosh, I have too much free time.
