it's for speech. i have to read a poem but i have to say it with emotion to where people know what emotions the poem is expressing. like if it's a sad peom i would have to read it in a sad tone. and if it's a funny, jumpy poem, i would have to say it all up beat ... you get the point. any help?

I'm working on an epic fantasy story and the villain is giving me a lot of trouble. As a character I think I've got him down pretty well but as a villain he seems to not have a motive.
It's like he beats up the hero because he's the villain and not because there's a reason for that.

Can any of you authors give me some advice on giving a villain's actions meaning?

What is there about the short story "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin that kept it out of high school textbooks for so long? We have this question for English and I can't really figure it out. "Any 'ideas' that would be considered too adult for high-school but nothing sexual" is what our teacher said.

The Final Day of Grendel


Lo, gather the guards of God's forsaken
He alone and aloof; ostracized by all,
His rage had boiled: revealed and wretched.
A son in his halls, whom hell hath sent
Stumbled in stupor o'er Satan's path
A trail of life bled red, lost limb.
Earth quiet in fear, quakes and quivers
Slow crawled he, the wretched one
Blood boiled and broke the crust.

Weeps blood trails o'er the whale-road
Dances the crests of death and doom
The demon drifts downward to rest.
His barren house, badged with blood
Sorrow filling the monster skull
With savage crimes of the serial stalker.
He cursed by birth, punished of God
Sprung of Cain, never a chance.
Seed of evil on the darkest day
Tormenting kin on walkways of silence.
Jealous of flesh, he followed his fate.

I've been looking everywhere for 3 short stories based on the various questions in the Ender saga, but have been unable to find. The three are titled "Mazer in Prison", "Pretty Boy", and "Cheater".

The 3 were released in Card's webzine, which requires a small fee for subscription. However, these stories were posted in older issues, so ordering it will do me no good.

What I'm asking is where might I find these three stories online so that I can read them?

I am writing a 2000 word research paper on the similar theme found in The Tell Tale Heart and the Fall of the House of Usher.

This is my thesis statement as of now but I'm not happy with it:

Humans may seem normal to themselves or to others, but they can have a second self inside of them that is evil and can ultimately cause them to perform heinous crimes that in the end result in inescapable insanity for the unfortunate human.

My main problem with this thesis is the "Humans may seem normal to themselves or to others" part...in one story the narrator is obviously insane but he denies his insanity (humans may seem normal to themselves)...but in the other story the main character is NOT obviously insane, it's not apparent in the beginning that he has a mental disorder (humans may seem normal to others)

Realllly need help on that first part everyone. Also I'm thinking that my thesis might be a run-on but I'm not sure..is it?

I read it along long time ago and can remember just afew things about the book. all the parents are gone, can't remember reason, and the children are left alone. the form gangs and one group takes a car to a near by farm for supplies. any ideas?

Weren't we friends?
What happend friends to the end?
When they lied, I cried
You believed them over me
Your so called "best friend"
Isn't friendship made out
of trust?


I miss our friendship,
we were as close as
dirt near the light green grass?
Or were we as close as the sun is
from us?
I miss your comforting words of,
'its ok'
We were supposed to be friends
to the end.
I cried every night,
wishing, hoping you will call
me,
saying sorry,
telling me that we will always
be friends.
It has been a year now,
I feel like a baby,
cryin at night,
But I guess now.
our friendsship now is
the end.

as you can tell, this is about a "close" friendship of 8 years, which I dearly miss.
I have been crying myself to sleep alot since then. I really miss her! Also, people would lie to
her saying I said stuff about her,and she so would believe people she "disliked" over me,
