The Winery

Above all who have loved,
those able to see redemption
in a flawed, frail,
encapsulated soul;
Those who delve into the
wanderings of scholars,
the musings of poets,
and the vice of the niave....
I congratulate you.
I fill your cups
with an elixor of love.
Poured from the eyes of Agape...
And I watch you drink
I smile and become anxious
as the liquid flows
through your bosom
Leaps within your soul
and ferments.
Now you are a perfected wine.
I place you on the mantle
of my longing
and wait for you
to reciprocate.

I'm really getting into poetry and I want to find some good reads, so I'm looking for suggestions for interesting poetry for people new to it all.

If anyone could reccomend authors (poets? I suppose they're poets, not authors), books, or anything really. Much appreciated! ♥

I'm on the fence. I love his sonnets, paticularly Sonnet 17 but some of his writings seem prententious.

Admire the rays, this canvas portrays

Of one soul and the stories it’s told

Seen through the eyes that can see through clear sight,

but the blind can see clearly, no sight without light

No doubt of a beauty that vanished, it’s lost

Within a dark vision, not a second glance

A broken heart, of misplaced romance

A portrait hung out to dry

The pain seen through its weeping eyes.

Speak gently, Spring, and make no sudden sound
for in my windy valley yesterday I found
New born foxes squirming on the ground
Speak gently.
Walk softly, March, forbear the bitter blow,
Her feet within a trap, her blood upon the snow,
The four little foxes saw their mother go
Walk softly.
Go lightly, Spring, oh give them no alarm;
When I covered them with boughs to shelter
them from harm
The thin blue foxes suckled at my arm
Go Lightly.
Step softly, March, with your rampant
hurricane
Nuzzling one another and whimp'ring with
pain,
The new little foxes are shiv'ring in
the rain
Step softly.

This is my fave poem of his work. Hope you like it.

Both John Hinckley and Mark David Chapman were obsessed with this book, the latter going as far as to quote the novel in the police report.

Is there any other infamous characters like these two who had an odd penchant for the novel?
