EE Cummings is passionate and jumbled like my brain works. Poetry is so subjective to people, and it really is based more on your needs at that moment rather than anything else.

However his stuff always makes me happy when I am sad, or whatever I need when I need it. He just works for me. And some if quite racy (in my opinion)

I think various Edgar Allen Poe is pretty depressing depending on the poem.

The Raven, especially is haunting if you think about the poem more deeply than others.

I read a poem by Dorothy Parker in 1969 in a book called "Reflections on a Piece of Watermelon Pickle"...

Razors pain you
and drugs cause cramp
Acids stain you
and ...

.. Guns aren't lawful
nooses give
gas smells awful
you might as well live...

I think she committed suicide later that year.

there is one poet that depresses me. Paul Laurence Dunbar. a number of his poetry like "The Haunted Oak", "Sympathy", or "We positioned on the masks" make me unhappy. of course, his existence makes me very melancholy. He grew to become right into a Black poet and nevertheless he might desire to write like John Keats or William Butler Yeats, he grew to become into trapped in writing ***** dialect. He married the affection of his existence, yet abused her. He grew to become into an alcoholic from the medicine he took for his tuberculosis. He died at the same time as living together with his mom and his ex-spouse chanced on he had died after reading approximately it interior the paper. particularly depressing.
