I have to ask this. I've read the His Dark Materials trilogy and I've read most of the Harry Potter series, but I cannot decide which one I like more. So I'm asking, which one do you like more: Harry Potter series or His Dark Materials trilogy and why?

I've read all of the potter books and I am currently almost done The Subtle Knife, the second of the trilogy in Philip Pullmans Dark materials. So far I really do enjoy both but they are very different in the target audiences I believe. While the Potter books are incredibly entertaining and fast reads the dark materials definitely have a lot more depth behind the stories. They are both the same genre, being fantasy, but could definitely be separated after that simple comparison. I would say I enjoy the dark materials more but that simply because I like to think on a much deeper scale then the simple words on a page while I'm reading. If you just want pure entertainment then go with the Potters.

One considerable distinction between those 2, different than for the incontrovertible fact that the Harry Potter sequence is a lot longer, is that the subjects in the lifeless of night supplies sequence are darker and extra arguable. So somewhat in all probability you may.

I enjoyed His Dark Materials more. Harry Potter is very accessible, but His Dark Materials was a lot *ahem* darker. It reached many subtle levels that I think Harry Potter hasn't reached. When I see Harry Potter question the nature of God instead of nattering on about funky jelly beans, I'll revisit my answer.
