Yes, first you need to write it of course. Then you need to find an agent who can get it pitched to a Publishing house. Get it copyrighted after you find a publishing house. Just do not get Authors block. After that design a front cover, and then after all that promote and Advertise through book fairs, and other events, then finda publishing date, work out any kincks in the editing, then ship it and sale it!!!! Good Luck.

I'm in the same boat, and here's what I've learned so far. There is a resource book called The Writer's Market, that lists literary agents, publishers, etc. You can buy it, or find it at your local library under reference. They say the best thing to do, is write what is called a query letter, which basically, is you asking an agent if they would be willing to read a sample of your book. Include status of your book - nearly done? completed? You'll likely want a separate page that includes a short synopsis of your book, and a brief biography, particularly anything previously published, contests won, credentials, etc. Don't send any unsolicited material with a query letter, unless the agency specifically requests it. Otherwise, you're wasting paper and postage, and your book will go directly into the trash can. You'll also need to make a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) for them to respond with, or you won't hear anything back from them. Best of luck to you!!!

You can purchase a copy of Writers Market for about $25.00 It is a wealth of information on how to get published. It also lists agents and publishers contact info and writers guidelines. That is a great start. Good luck!
