The Basilisk walked around the castle through the pipes (plumbing). But how did he get out and into the corridors where he attacked? Because he couldn't just come out through the entrance in the bathroom and walk around the corridors without being seen, right? After all, as Ron says, "it's a dirty great snake", or something like that! Are there more entrances to the Chamber or to the pipe system?

Has anyone read this book? If so, can you roughly sketch out what happens in it. I've been trying to read it for about 3 months now. I'm half way through and I've given up with it.
I'm interested to know what happens, but it's just too darn painful to read anymore. I've read loads of his books, but I get really fed up about his characters always being either perfectly wonderful or perfectly evil, very rich, very disturbed, very clever etc etc. I'm also sick of him describing in minute detail everything that his characters eat and everything they have hung on their living room walls (usually described as exquisite - his favourite word).

Sorry - this book really stressed me out, but my curiosity may one day lead me back to it, unless one of you can help me!

I've read and enjoyed the following: The Drenai Saga books by David Gemmell, The Inhumans Trilogy by John Marco (ie - The Eyes of God, etc.), The Dragonlance books (only those by Weis and Hickman), The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit, The Princess Bride, Le Morte D'Arthur, and The Eaters of the Dead.

I have read R.A. Salvatore, but I'm not a fan. I don't care for Harry Potter or Eragon either. There are also a ton of other fantasy books I've read that were simply mediocre (Chronicles of Narnia).

I'm about to start reading the Briar King by Greg Keyes.

If you have any suggestions to other, possibly not so well known, fantasy (NOT Sci-Fi) books or series, please leave the title, author and a little blurb on how it was.

Hi everyone,
I loved this story as a child, and my son does, too. Is it offensive, and should I be reading it to my child?
Thanks in advance!

I'm taking Latin right now and I want to try and translate some poetry. Shorter stuff would be preferable. I'm not looking to release my own version of the Aeneid or anything like that.

I have run out of new books to read and I don't know of any good books. Does anyone know of any good books for a girl between 15 and 17? I like books that are serious and intriguing. I especially like fiction. I just read "Uglies", "Pretties" and "Specials" by Scott Westerfeild and "Such a Pretty Girl" by Laura Weiss and I loved them. Please don't say anything like Nancy Drew books or Gossip Girls. Nothing sleazy or trashy please. Also no Bible books please. You can recommend more than one book. Please tell me a little about the book without ruining it.

If anyone can tell me the name of an author (younger than 18) that would be great. And if possible, please state their age and book that they wrote.
I would also appreciate feedback on their books and anything you want to add. Please list as many young authors (of any book genre) that you know of. Thanks in advance!!!

I have heard that freelance writing can be a lucrative career. I have worked for newspapers and I am barely able to afford the gas to cover stories. Are magazines a better avenue? How do writers do it?
