Gandalf saves Bilbo and the Dwarves almost every time they get in trouble. which happens about every 10 pages. with the exceptions being when Bilbo saves them using his magic ring to become invisible. Bilbo rescues them from the prisons in the elves caves in mirkwood as well as rescuing them from the giant spiders. all other rescues are done by Gandalf
