If anyone can tell me the name of an author (younger than 18) that would be great. And if possible, please state their age and book that they wrote.
I would also appreciate feedback on their books and anything you want to add. Please list as many young authors (of any book genre) that you know of. Thanks in advance!!!

Christopher Paolini wrote the book Eragon when he was 15. I really enjoyed it, and its sequel, Eldest.

Gordon Korman. His first book “This Can’t Be Happening” was written as a 7th grade English assignment. He had solidified his career as an author before graduating high school, penning and publishing 5 more books, including “Beware the Fish” and “Go Jump in the Pool”

Amelia Atwater-rhodes, I believe that is her name, she wrote In the Forest of the Night at age 13 and she has written many books after that, the best ones are the vampire ones, her first 4 books. they are great and captivating, they are also short. she is currently 19 right now? but im not sure. her books are worth the read.

I think, in part, it's probably what teens most teens who like the genre (fantasy, sci-fi, whatever) likes to read. And, I also think it's what those authors are reading and they see that it sells so they want to mimic it. And, I also think it's probably because it's all they know (if that's what they like to read and it's also what they'll like to write). You might find it better reading outside of genre (or reading genres you wouldn't normally read). Have you read regular YA commercial fiction or YA literary fiction? Try some of the award winners - the books that have one prestigious awards and not awards that no one has ever heard of. I doubt technology has anything to do with it. It's a non-issue if your only problem is character description. That's such a minor issue, IMO.

Mattie Stepanek wrote several books of poetry. I think the first was published when he was about 12.
