" Discuss the meaning of the play's title. What refrences do you find to dreaming and the play? What relationship is created between dreaming and theater. why is "midsummer" important to the theme of the play? "

Well, midsummer is a celebration dealing with the solstice.

Puck (Robin Goodfellow)
He speaks directly to the audience, suggesting that they too, like the lovers and Bottom, have been asleep: "you have but slumber’d here". All the strange things that they have witnessed have been "No more yielding but a dream".

Therefore, the entire play was a dream of the audience during the midsummer celebration.

Midsummer Night was May 1. It was considered an enchanted night where girls could perform spells and there are pagan rituals where people would dance around fires and yell to the spirits that came on that night. That is where the idea of the Maypole came from. Google the may pole and the meaning of May 1 and that might give you some ideas on the themes of love and fairies in the play. But if you are expecting someone to basically write your paper for you, you should read the play. It is great, it has a love triangle, a love square, forbidden love, a guy tunring into a donkey and a fairy queen falling in love with him while she is under a spell, and a cat fight.

You have to think about it in the context of the play. Really you need to figure out what it means to you to be able to write about it proficiently in your essay. But think about the fact that everyones reality gets twisted throughout the play and but is righted in the end. Could that be what shakespear means with about it being a dream?
