what makes something 'women's literature'?

My guess would be the same thing that makes a "chick flick": no action, lots of emotions everywhere and unrealistic expectations come true.

Something written by a woman, written from a woman's perspective, indicative of and having bearing women's experience in the world.

I don't believe men generally read about female main characters, so I suppose anything with a female main character counts.
