I love love love James Micheners books. But alas I need to lay those books down and discover other historcial fiction authors. Please help me find new authors that mix historical information throughout their fictional accounts as Michener did.

I've read the Fifth Ring series and Song of the Beast by Carol Berg (also the Inheritance trilogy). Are there any other books out there like those two? I'd much appreciate the help!

There's a lot of mythology allusions in older writings (Shakespeare, Milton) but I can't seem to find any in more modern texts. Of course, there's always Harry Potter, but I'm getting graded on originality so I shouldn't use those. Any suggestions?

I need some names for middle earth places. I absolutly love J.R.R Tolkein's creativity for all his names in Te Lord of The Rings.
