I've heard of him; my parents have a couple of his books.

I tried to read one of them and it bored me, so I didn't finish it. But there have been self-help books I have enjoyed, such as "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People".

As to "does it work", my parents have read Anthony Robbins and after they did, they didn't undergo any earth-shattering transformation, but they do have a lot of good ideas for goal-making and self-improvement that probably include some of Robbins' ideas.

The problem with any career self-help writer or speaker is that they will tell you "how to become successful". But if you look at where THEY succeeded, they succeeded in selling products in the self-help industry. Expensive products, as you yourself said. So unless you intend to copy their products and methods of marketing, their books can't guarantee you success, even if they are chalk full of really good advice.

The best thing to do is find a Borders or Barnes and Noble near you, any bookstore/cafe that lets you read books in the store, or even a library. Read through some of Robbins' stuff first. If you find that it has an impact on your life in a positive direction, then you can decide it would be worth your money to buy.

I don't know much about him besides that he's a famous motivational speaker that helped many celebrates but you should always go checking opinions online about him.

The “7 Steps” are:

1. Get Clear.
2. Get Certain.
3. Get Excited.
4. Get Focused.
5. Get Committed.
6. Get Momentum.
7. Get Smart.

but I think books and audio CDs about this stuff is not worth it because I think you yourself can change for the better. You know yourself better than anyone else.

What kind of situation are you looking for?

I think his books are very good. I have 2 of them. What he writes actually makes very good sense, and I did find them helpful.

But I wont buy the tapes & CDs precisely because they are very expensive.

I notice he's not so noticeable on the TV as much as he used to be.

It's a scam - stay away from him. That's how he got rich, by selling his books and CD's to people who thought they were going to "get rich quick."
